Car eats a lot of oil.
Hey new to the forum, picked up my obsidian black c63 in july and have had to make frequent visits to the dealer regarding the check engine oil level at next stop. Everytime i go there they say its fine but i was just asking for your opinions.
So far fill ups at:
1200 km
2900 km
4500 km
and last one at 6800 km
is this normal?
Thanks.

2009 C63 AMG Black on Black PP Package CF fully loaded
I now have 4k miles, I've added close to 3 qts but never had the oil light come on. I monitor the oil level every few hundred miles when driving hard from time to time, I add 1/2 qts at a time. I've also did my first oil chg @ 1500 mi... and all is well

The 63 does seem to eat oil. I would document it for warranty purposes later but that would be it. Just complain to MB service and have it noted. You may also want them to have to top it off to document that it was low.

With new high-compression design engines using thin synthetic oil it is normal to use some (about 1 Qt./1000 miles) by penetration and burning in the cyinder chamber. This is considered in engine design for better durability of the rings and cylinder surfaces by building a sacrificial film of oil that is not quite swept by the oil ring and it becomes ignited in the compression cycle and exhausted fortwith with the other fumes.
Expensive as this may seem with the cost of synthetic oil, it will save the amount spent in spades in engine durability.

Now I ask you guys this. HOW DID YOU BREAK YOUR ENGINE IN??
I drove the **** out of mine since it was brand new. Racing, redlining it, downshifts, burnouts, donuts, etc from day 1. I've topped it with oil ONCE since I got it. at around 8-10,000KM range. I put another 10,000km on and haven't seen that light since. This is includes trips to the drift track and a handful of quater mile days too.

I broke mine in easy.. Redlined it under 5 times for the first 1000 miles. After that I haven´t taken it that easy
I am planing on an oilchange soon (around 1500miles) and after that will follow the oil consumption. The dealer told me I don´t need to do anything before the 10.000mile service but thats not how I treat my cars... Only problem is what oil to use. There are different types in all the different oil-threads. My friend owns a car service station and would just like to take it there for an oilchange instead of taking it to the dealer...

My Costco doesn't carry the 0-40 or 5-40, I have to go to Walmart for it. Also check out an oil evacuator for an EASY DYI oil change.

Common after breakin to need oil. The consistent burning of oil from what ive read and have seen might be due to improper breakin.

Depends on how you broke it in. Im finding people who followed the breakin period dont have as much of an oil burning problem as people who didnt.
