Congrats! I've driven the new S4 and love it. The only thing I miss from the B6/B7 V8 S4s is the exhaust note.
As c32AMG-DTM pointed out, MTM has released a tune for the S4, which puts it at 430 chp. Audi used a electronic bypass valve for the 3.0T. The supercharger is basically making 21 psi all under WOT, but bleeding off half of that. That allows the supercharger build low end torque much quicker and also adjust to different atmospheric conditions. Since the boost of the stock B8 S4 is around 11 psi, there is another 9-10 psi of boost available without changing pulleys. For more power after that then a pulley upgrade is required.
The 2010 A6 has the same motor but de-tuned. It puts out 300hp/310ft-lb.

thank you first of all. i agree the new s4 has lota rooms for tuning. i also agree the sound of the exhaust just sucks. but the engine sound is quite good in fact. after 3 days of ownership, the DSG 7speed with LSD is what i like the best. the manual mode shifts so smooth and so quick better than my M3 DCT. and the automatic is as nice as my c63. i have no complain so far about the new s4 transmission at all. Plus this is my first all wheel drive car too, a whole new feeling compared to my 2 current rear wheel drive cars.

Question though - if you check the MTM link I posted, every "stage" that claims a performance increase shows a picture of "ECU tuning" and a pulley.

It also seems weird for Audi to significantly overdrive the S/C but then just bleed off the boost at all but the lowest rpms - since S/C's have pretty significant parasitic losses (i.e. take hp to make hp), it seems inefficient unless I'm missing something.

Regardless, they're gorgeous vehicles - I'll likely take a hard look at one once I'm ready to move on from the C32.

@boombastic, congrats on the new car. The new B8 S4 is a sweet ride and the engine's got ton of potential. From a previous Audi owner to another, you're going to love that S4. Funny, it was my first choice coming off a modified A3 but I couldn't pass on the deal I got with my C63.
And I agree that MB needs to step it up with their entertainment system. The electronic features and amenities in our W204 C-classes really need a revamp. Audi's is top notch and I would love to see that kind of improvement done to MB models, ESPECIALLY AMGs.

thank you so much. ya the deal on AMG was insane! i actually just got back from a meet with my friends. i asked 2 M3 drivers, 1 335i tuned driver to try out the S4, the outcome was NICE ! and car only has 230 miles on it, but they all drove to 100 miles, they love it VERY much. 1 m3 owner said the transmission is too smooth to complain.

I'll defer to you... you seem to know what you're talking about, interesting info THX. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

They max out the boost at the low end to deliver 100% of the torque early on then bleed it off (around 2900 RPMs) to have that "table top" flat torque curve. It makes 325 ft-lb from 2900 - 5300 RPMs so it gives you a nice range. Compared to the C32, it delivers max torque at 4400 RPMs. Here's the 3.0T in the A6 (310 ft-lb from 2500 - 5000 RPMs), but same idea:

just got home with my new toy, the 2010 Audi S4. what can i say? personally i think MB interior designer should go back to school again. the new 2010 s4 is a piece of art, nice all around car even though it is not as powerful as my c63; however, i bet most people here will fall in love with its interior and sound.

Congrats, very sharp ride. The older v8 S4 sounded amazing but I've heard the new one, while not sounding as mean, is just as quick and handles WAY better....love Audis especially the S and RS line...

Was expecting a pulley, so seeing the stack of spacers, mistook them for one. The pics on the initial link are smaller...

Thanks for clarifying; appreciate it.
