C63 and C55 at Mosport (track day)

Well, the front pads on my 135i were shot, so I took the C55 to this track day at Mosport (likely the last one of this season). North44 also came with his C63 AMG. The day started off poorly, with an old Ferrari crashing and leaving us with nothing to do for most of the morning until the car was towed away and the guardrail was fixed.

After lunch, the track finally opened again, and we maximized our track time. The weather cooperated too, as the track finally dried up after the on and off morning rain. What fun we had.......it was HARD work trying to keep with North44 in his C63......any lift of the throttle or mistake on my part and I'm left in the dust. The power of the C63 is amazing, as North44 just killed me on the long back straight........the only chance I had was trying to make up some time in the corners.

Here are 2 videos:

My quickest recorded lap (ever for me) at Mosport.....(chasing North44):

A longer clip of me trying to keep up with North44:

GREAT job PC

Giving up 100 HP and staying with him, okay close to him, is NO SMALL feat my friend

God how I miss that sound

I have to wiat another 5 years before I can teach my son

I did at least get to do an autocross, in the S600, long story

We had a blast for our last day of the season. Thanks PCV for encouraging me to get back on the track... We did have some great runs Wednesday!!
Yes Nick I am hooked again....

Nick, don't think I can make the 24th. Snows are already on my track wheels and the p-zero's are in the trash. Could run on my 19's though....Let me think about it. There is a charity track day on the 24th with 6th Gear at Mosport that I was thinking of volunteering at. Good cause.

Here are a view from me following PCV in his 55:

Looks GREAT, and of course fun guys

What AMAZES me in this video, is that the SRT actually pulls on the C on the back straight away. Espically since you were catching him on the front half. That SRT was laying down some power. Was he stock

Anyway, GREAT footage, and thanks for posting

Do you have coilover on the C55 ?

If its stock then thats some awesome driving keeping up with a C63 on the track with C55.

Thanks. We did have fun. Running up the back straight I did lift off a bit waiting for the Pass signal that was late in coming. The SRT didn't wait for a pass by. Not taking anything away from the SRT. It definitely NOT stock. Well tricked out. Trailered in for the day. PCV had a closer look at the end of the day. PCv....what do you think??

I was too busy scarfing down the Lamb BBQ to go out in the rain to look at any cars.....LOL

Thanks for the reply. I miss/loved racing at Mosport. Although I haven't been their for over a decade now, aka yeah I know I'm old. Hey, is the Bridgestone school still their?

On flat out/test days, I to would have waited for the signal, as it is not worth it in the long run

Again, my hat is tip to you both

And a BIG oh yeah on the lamb!!!!!

Great vids Barry, about that SRT, no way that was stock, it had barely any lean in it and I could swear I could here it in your video, way to loud for it to be stock, looks like a tonne of fun, I myself will be tracking one more time in October at Calabogie, too bad you guys cant make it out, but next year we MUST get together on the track, though I think you may have more skill than me, you look nice and smooth and good lines are taken!!

Both the C55 and C63 are pretty much stock cars. The only modification we had was a Renntech CF airbox in the C55, and a VRP CF airbox in the C63. Of course, North44's C63 has the full Performance Pack with the LSD. Both of us were on street tires (Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 on the C55, and Pirelli PZero on the C63).......although the C63's front tire was as wide as the C55's rear tire.....LOL.

It was one of the most fun track days I've had because it was quite a challenge/thrill to try to keep up with North44. I think we were going at it (usually me trying desparately to keep up) for quite a few laps for an extended period of time. It certainly did raise some attention with other people that day to have 2 AMG V8's roaring down the front straight one after the other.

For me to match North44's laptime of 1:41, I was driving closer to the limit than I have done before in the C55 or 135i......it was a little scary and hard to maintain over many laps. If I drive more comfortably at less than that limit (1:42-1:43 laptime), North44 would simply slowly pull away from me lap by lap, as the C63 is simply a faster machine. I'm sure North44 could drive at that pace the whole day without a sweat in his C63. In fact, I'm sure North44 will go faster than 1:41 when he goes again next year.

With regards to the green SRT, it was a fully prepped race car with a roll cage and completely stripped out interior...definitely not a street car The owner told me the car has well over 500HP. The guy was very nice.....he came up to North44 and myself afterwards and complimented our rides.

Thanks for the post! I really encourage all the C63 owners to at least sign up for a Drivers Ed weekend just to appreciate the car in ways that are NOT available on city streets or country roads for that matter.
