Changing brake pads-DIY?
I am at the 11,000 mile mark and I need new pads all around (several hard track days did not help much). I bought the pads and two new sensors today and want to try to put them on over the weekend.
Is there anything unusual with changing pads on a c63? Do I need to disconect the SBC controller and if so where do I disconnect it?
Thanks in advance for any tips.

SBC?
I thought the only thing you need to do is punch out the 2 retaining pins, remove the cross bracket that was held by the pins, slide out old pads, compress pistons (make sure you suck some fluid out of the reservoir), slide new pads (after pasting), and reinstall bracket and pins? Make sure you have not exceeded the wear limit stamped on the rotor.

If that is true, please let me know how to relay to dealer. Been through three sets of pads and rotors this summer. Switched to two piece rotors second time around and they lasted 1 1/2 track events. They are covering those as they had less then 1500 miles on them. They say out of courtesy. The told me that only rotors and pads that are covered are for regular c class under a TSB. FYI, you can buy the OEM rotors cheaper through Renntech.

Three sets over the summer! Holy sheite>>how many track days is that for?
What track are you running on as it must be pretty brutal on brakes?
The "sbc" is selective brake control and I read in another thread that if you disconected that the brake pistons would retract which made it easier to install the pads

Good to see some other owners track these cars. I have had mine up to summit point several times. I have not been to Beaver Run yet but I have raced at the Glen. Have you tried Dragon Ridge yet?
Have you tried anything but OEM pads? I have two track days on the rotors and they still look pretty good but Summit Point is not too hard on brakes. My front calipers, however, have turned a nice gold color from the heat!
I saw on another thread that if you disconnected the SBC that the pistons would retract and it made it easier to change the pads. I am not sure if we have the selective brake control.

You might want to take a look at Carbotech Pads. www.ctbrakes.com According to their web site they make pads for the C63 in 6 different compounds. If you give those a try I would love to hear your thoughts.

I actually do. I have my 1.07 run that fried the rotors and one chasing a Dinan tune M5. He is supposed to let me pass if I am faster. But, he was stubborn. Made for good video. Never used Youtube before. I will figure it out and post.

No. That is why you have pedal feel and those with SBC do not. So you do not need SDS to bleed them either. However, you do need a pressure bleed system to get all the old fluid out of the ABS. As far as my research is concerned, pumping the prake pedal will not do this.

I'm sure he was quite annoyed that an AMG wanted to, and, is capable of passing him.

Staying closer to topic, I am having the Renntech pads installed tomorrow for my Friday track event. They did not come in a box and are yellow. Wonder if they are the Yellow Pagid pads?

I changed the pads over the weekend. Definitely a DIY job. You can just use a screwdriver to push the old pads back against the pistons to create room for the new pads (no SBC to be found).
