Any of you daily drivers have PP?

I was just curious if anyone on here who uses their C63 as a daily driver, have the performance package. By daily driver i mean drivers who do not track their car. I was considering getting the PP but not sure if i should since i will not track the car. i might bring it to a drag strip once or twice and see how good she runs but nothing too serious

Yes, and I drive it in New York City and have put 20k miles on it since last October. I find it firm but not harsh and very controlled. I wouldn't think of getting one without it (and the Kleeman tune too)

Yes
Its stiff if youre used to a nice smooth ride no doubt, but its not awful. Maybe for one minute out of 200 while driving do I think "damn that bump was stiff". I like the exclusivity of it as well as the LSD, no doubt.

I daily drive mine and have owned many sports cars before. The ride is not overly rough if compared to other sports cars. Comparing it to you run of mill Grand Prix, yes its definately more harsh.

I have driven my '09 with PP since NOV'08. As the others have said, the ride is firm but controlled. One thing I did notice was that when the car was new, the suspension was stiffer than now (~8,000 miles). It began to loosen up and respond to bumps better, after a long break in period. I guess it was about 3-4,000 miles before the shocks/springs became more responsive. Tire choice also plays a big part in the ride/handling compromise. I really love the ride!

My DD is a PP C63. Sure it's firm, but it's bearable. Don't expect S550 ride quality.

another question, what makes getting the performance package worthwhile as a daily driver? how did some of you guys decide to get the PP? it would be cool if the PP gave a cosmetic difference. i like the steering wheel and suspension but other than that i do not see myself going 170 mph. just trying to figure out if the PP is for me. it is true that the PP for 2010s while be getting some cosmetic upgrades such as red painted brake calipers.

Mike is right, unless you are a track person, it is a waste of money, many just get it for bragging rights...I myself would have got it if they offered it in 2008 when I got my car because on occassion I do track the car and it is worth it for me, for instance, if I get an 2010 E63, I wont track the car, so I wont get the performance package. This is my opinion, so, people dont start with the child type remarks.

I think having an LSD under warranty and servicable by your dealership was good enough reason to get it for me....

The ride is firm but your don't hear anyone complain when you're hitting those corners and off-ramps at full steam

From my point of view, it's a performance car...so why wouldn't you get the performance package?

I had ordered these through the dealer, they are not offered on the MB website, the wheels are about $4000 CDN plus tires, I loved the look of the wheels, so I ordered them....as far as using the car for on ramp blasts, you dont require the LSD, keep in mind, when the 2008 C63 came out and was tested in european mags and shows such as top gear, the performance pack wasnt yet offered, so all the comparisons to the M3 and RS4 where pre performance pack, so not so bad. I am still with the school of thought, that you will NEVER experience the full and the absolute full advantage of a performance prepped car unless you are on the track...anyone here racing light to light on the street with both versions of this car will not have an advantage or disadvantage, and this is real world.

I totally agree that you dont need the LSD for offramp blasts. That comment was related to the firmed ride and the firmer ride shows its advantages in corners and off ramps.

But the advantage of the LSD is used in the street all the time. Especially durring hard launches. Non-LSD cars will transfer the majority of torque to one wheel causing that wheel to break free and burn-out, on it's own (resulting in those 1-wheel burn-outs we all see).
During launch, an LSD equipped car will distribute torque to both rear wheels, giving you twice the grip as opposed to a normal diff....

I totally agree that you would never get the full advantage of a performance prepped car unless you were on the track, but hopefully one day we can all rock some laps and light up some drag strips in our incredible machines

Best of luck brother....if you can chisel that sticker price low enough you might be able to get it as a no-cost option...which would be ideal

Why someone would not want an LSD in this car is beyond me...but to each their own, I guess.

What would be the difference between a NON-LSD car compared to the LSD one. A real world example is what im looking for..

I have LSD myself.

An LSD functions as a mechanical traction control device. On gravel or ice, for example, tire slip occurs. With a normal differential, the torque is transferred to the spinning tire which then spins even more. An LSD will deliver torque to the other tire so that if it has traction you will move forward.

I drove the the C63 with non PP and then PP back-to-back and I saw a noticeable difference in traction especially coming out of corners where I would consistently spin the inner tire with the non PP version.

I don't know if this is a 'real world example' but it was certainly enough for me to opt for the LSD.
