I first did a 600 mile round trip to Gran Canyon AZ and got a mid 22 MPG with stock air filters but I just drove 875 miles one way on interstate HWY and got over 24MPG at mid 70mph. I think my gas mileage is approximately 1.5-2mpg better. Also, keep in mind that my car was fully loaded with cargo and people and a good portion of the trip I drove on altitude (between 3000 and 4000 feet) and with the A/C on the entire time.
Definately not feeling a huge increase of power but certainily a better fuel economy. For those of you that want something simple and affordable I think the K&N are worth the money. I ordered mine from Autozone and got them within 48hours (special order), cost me like $110.
Last but not least, when I ordered my K&N I order the 2008 year because the 2009' year wasn't listed. Good luck!

This is not my imagination folks!, I pay a lot of attention to the gas mileage information in all my cars, I normally reset my trip odometer and on board computer everytime I put gas on the car. I am positive I am getting at least a solid 1.5mpg better. I am driving back this week so I am doing the 875 miles trip again in 4 days, I will document the gas mileage and share the results again.

So many factors go into MPG, just a bit of a warning to everyone on that as I've built myself up and been let down on this before.
I will say though that you also can't discount stock filters being dirty and hampering mileage and or performance.
Interestingly, I've read that a dirty filter will actually hurt performance more than mileage per gallon as the computer compensates.
Amazon usually has pretty good deals on K&Ns and Green Filters.
I have a lot of dust around my home and the roads by it, so I tend to stick with the stock than risk anymore dirt than already getting in, but I do replace them regularly and notice performance returning when I do (at least my brain believes I do).

I am almost certain that there might be other better filters out there but honestly I rolled the dice on the K&N filters because even if you go wrong you don't lose a lot of money. I figured it would be worth for the gas mileage, the power increase and for allowing you to clean them instead of having to pay for paper filters.
I live in the desert and the filters always get a lot of fine dust. To me it is a small price to pay considering what you get back..

Slightly off topic but I did a 230 mile trip yesterday which was 98% highway and I cruised at approx. 72 mph and got 22.0 mpg. I was happy with that. My C63 is stock with charcoals removed.

dude, i took out the charcoals, replaced the stock with k and n's and today, i got 10.9 mpg on a few short local drives. maybe you don't nail it with the regularity that i do, but with all this power, how could i be expected to lay off??? did a 0-60 run today in under 4 seconds - did the racetimer to boot! hiyoooooooooo!

Actually check by calculating based on how much refilled?
I routinely get 21.7 to 22 on the computer only to calculate 19-19.5 when I actually refill. Just drove from NC to PA today mostly on I85 and I95 at 70-75mph. I got 338 miles before refilling with 17.689 gal which makes 19.1mpg, computer said 21.8. If I had gotten 24.5 mpg that would have made 433 miles to that tank.
24.5 full of people and luggage in a C63? Only if down hill the whole way and pushed the last 17 miles. ;-)

Well, it has been about 2 months since I did the Service A and removed the K&N filters and I can confirm one more time that the K&N filters will yield at solid 1.5 if not 2 MPG extra.
If you read the begining of the post I reported an improvement of gas mileage after installing my K&N filters. After the Service A I had to remove them because according to the service advisor the K&N filters was the cause of my lean codes on my ECU.
I did not argued with the Service advisor and I removed the filters. Now with the stock filters the gas mileage sucks big time.
You don't need to do the testing, just read my posts, I did back to back testings, before, after and reverse and definately the K&N will yiled the extra 1.5-2 mpg.

I honestly don't know how u guys do it. I live in NYC and I routinely get 9-12 miles per gallon. If I get 19 miles per gallon on the highway I'm giddy and dElighted. Am I doing something wrong? I'm missing 5-6 miles per gallon compared to u guys. Lol
