New C63 First Oil Change!!

Hello everyone, I am a total newbie with the forum but some advice is needed, I picked up my 2010 C63 3 weeks back and loved every bit of it. Just want to see if I can get some input as to when I should do my first service? I looked at the forum and some people did it at 1k miles, some did it at 1k Kms, and some much more than that. Any general consensus? Thanks and Merry roaring Xmas in our 63s.

Welcome to the forum and happy holidays.
Unless you are a car nut like some of us are and decided to do it at about 1K miles, there is no harm to follow the recommended MB timing for changing your oil.

congrats!

did my first oil change at 14000 km about 9000 miles.

If you have the lim. slip diff. they will change your diff oil only at 2000 miles.

If you don't have the lim. diff. first service is in one year or 15000km or about 9000 miles. And they don't need to change the diff oil at that moment. Don't get riped off.

just make sure you check you oil level.

Yes
I wanted to get an oil change at 2000 miles to get the breakin oil out but MB insisted that I follow their regular service intervals, IE 10k. I did get the LSD oil changed, that was just over $100.

There are several threds on this. You can do a search and get a lot of info. The sticker on the inside windshield states first is done at first 1000 miles. Some say not until maintenance light tells you. In any case, its your choice...

Why?Some guys complain about excessive oil consumption. The cylinder lining is exceptionally hard. So now at 1000 miles you dump in 9 new quarts of Mobil 1-as well as a fresh batch of Mobil 1's friction multipliers. You think it might delay the rings from getting seated?

Do what you want. What's the worse that can happen- a motor that never really gets broken in. And consumes ALOT of oil.(Yeah, I know-cylinder pressure and other factors are in play-but really, new oil at 1000 miles?) Put gas in it and drive it.

the amount of make up oil required in this engine more than makes up for the increased concentration of wear materials and fuel in the oil. it's a complete waste of money to do a complete change in less than a year. The oil filter does it's job and will filter out what needs to filtered.

There is no consipiracy guys. Mercedes is not trying to make your engines fail! :-)

I took my car to the dealer for something else and I asked the service manager/advisor if he could do my oil change at around 4800 miles and he told me that he could do it but it would be a waste of time becuase according to him the Mobil 1 oil would be fine until the first 10000 miles. He then procedeed to explain all the good stuff about Mobil one oil. I never saw any stocker saying replace the oil at the first 1000 miles.

Well. Thanks everyone for the advice, I just want to do whatever is the best for the car as it is my first nice car, want to make sure it stays nice for a while. I will follow the suggestions and hold off oil change in first 1000 miles till a bit later. Happy new years everyone. (BTW, does anyone else have a sticker says oil change at 1000 mile? My only has one that said drive with restraint under 1000 miles etc)

Just a word of advice. Please check the oil yourself after changing it as some dealers will say they did but never actually change it. PM me or ask anyone if you need help reading the oil level.

Enjoy, Happy Holidays, & Welcome!

The dealer will likely put Mobil. I just go with mobil for topping off. According to some it's not the best oil. But I just want to make sure that I don't get warranty problems if the motor went bad.

It actually happened to me once with an earlier car, not at a merc dealer, but still better to check for yourself.
