Great stuff. By the way, for those of you who haven't seen Rendevous please do yourself a favor and track it down. The rumour was that the driver was an ex-F1 pilot and the car was a Ferrari 275 GTB/4. It's a 9 minute high-speed run through Paris from the drivers point of view in the early morning hours dodging street sweepers, food delivery vans, and buses. It's not very high-tech, but its very real and very exciting, and if there's anything that sounds better than an AMG V8 its a Ferrari V12 from the 1960s.

Thanks for sharing! I thought that road looked familiar! Almost flew off the road once in my GTI during my college days. It was either flying off the cliff or slide into the mountain. Luckilly for me, it was into the mountain and the only thing damaged was that my BBS front spoiler came off.

Thanks for sharing the link of the "make off". Per Claude Lelouch in this clip, he stated there has been a lot of rumors about the movie but it was actually him who drove and not a race car driver. He was as fast as about 125mph in the Paris streets.
He redid the same trip with a ferrari to make the movie for car fans more interesting with a stick shift Ferrari and a better sound track.

I lived in Paris and remember well some of the streets. There was no editing to the movie and streets were not closed in any manner. There was just a blind spot and he had someone there with a walkie talkie to let him know if there would be an issue when he flew by. Lelouch stated that his friend did not radio him but that was becuase the talkie did not work :

Amazing. I have seen this many times (in fact I own the DVD which is readily available online) and I was always under the impression it was a Ferrari (also based on the audio). I had no idea it was a Benz, and it's even stranger that he felt the need to dub a Ferrari soundtrack onto the film. Wish I could hear the original soundtrack, but I guess with a 3 speed automatic it probably isn't nearly as exciting.
