Got jumped by a BMW

Heading home after work I got jumped by a BMW. It was a 335i I believe but i'm not sure. I'm not a BMW guy. I didn't spend much time behind him but that car ran pretty good. I went by him in the fast lane and he pulled in behind so I eased over one lane to see what his intentions where. It was pretty clear once I eased over what he wanted. I gave him a little 63 love and I pulled by pretty easy but he hung in for about 1/8 mile. I was surprised to say the least. I guess his 300hp turbo ran out of juice! I never would had though that car would run that well...

Does anyone own one of these?

He may have been tuned via either the PROcede v3/v4 or the JB3 piggyback. If so, they can yield up to ~ 390-400WHP / 400 lb-ft RWTQ and run 0-60mph in ~ 3.9-4.3 sec. and the 1/4 mi. in the low-mid 12's on a good day; some highly modded cars can run in the 11's. Prior to my C63 AMG, I drove an '07 BMW 335i w/ the PROcede v3 piggyback...with everything else stock, I dyno'd ~ 350WHP and ran the 1/4 mi. in 12.8sec. @ 111mph.

The F/I tt BMW 335i/135i cars stock are pretty fast (~ 13.4 sec. @ 105mph) and tuned, they can be very quick. Stock for stock, there's not much comparison; the C63 AMG is clearly much faster. Now, if your C63 AMG is tuned, you should pull ahead on a tuned 335i by a few CLs, especially at the upper speeds where the C63 AMG has a big advantage.

fyi -- a lot of these guys like to run against a C63 AMG b/c they know it can be fairly close, especially if he's tuned.

335i are quick with silly basic cheap mods. My coupe 335i had a Vishnu piggy back, cat back and air filter and it was quick. A 335i with just a tune, downpipes and air filter would be toe to toe with a C63.

Thanks guys. Good info. I had no idea. Really good running car. I'm putting
down 415 and he was hanging.

If you're tuned and @ 415WHP and he hung in close, then he's definitely got either the PROcede v3/v4 or the JB3 piggyback computer ecu tune and possibly some DPs and/or exhuast and intake. However, once you get to the higher speeds, you would pull away (which is what it sounded like happened). This is most likely the reason that he wanted to run you; he thought he had a decent chance since he's tuned.

I had a 335i in front of me the other day getting on the highway, and when we hit it, I didn't gain much ground through 3rd gear, but once I hit 4th, I was able to pull around him rather easy...not sure if it is a gearing thing or what, but it was quick to start, and then seemed to get some turbo fade.

C63 AMG Arctic w/ Stage 1 Tune, DoubleXX pipe, MCD-631X coming soon
Funny thing I too had a modded JB2HHR GT PRO turbo upgrade downpipe/midpipe/Arqray prototype exhaust, etc etc. it was pretty quick, however the 335i N54 powerplant runs out of steam up top, and they do not have the torque curve of a C63. My car with our stage 2 tune, GT PRO LT's, Single X pipe, and stock intake had it's chance at a modded 335i the other nite.

The 335i had been tailgating me for about 2 miles, and we got on to another freeway, he then decided he would draft/slingshot past me (really close to my bumper on the pass), and when he did that I let him out about 2 car lengths until I hit it, I quickly reeled him in and pulled past him by at least 4-5 cars up to about 135, when I backed off. I think he got butt hurt, becuase as I slowed down so did he, he never wanted to pull up to me again all the way to the next interchange where we parted ways.

I have an '09 335 Coupe, with JB3 and cold air intake only. I have managed to kill 2 ISF's and an E90 M3, have not yet raced a C63 but been stalking one for a while
I am fixing to install a meth kit which should boost me up to 410-417 to the wheel. Now am at 387 hp and thats pretty cool for the money, I really couldn't get any better..OH I also ran against a modded S4 2010 he was ahead of me by 2 CLs and when he gunned it , while doing 70-75 mph,I followed and basically passed him at 120-130 (couldn't take my eye off the road for narrow street)...
Hope this helps.

While driving to Lowes today, I noticed a blue 335i with 20s ahead and to the lane on the left trying to get a look at me when I passed to enter the parking lot. Seem to attract the attention of BMW owners.

335er vs...

I like the C63, the price is out of the range plus the bucket seats are a little bit tight for my 6'3" frame lol but its a nice car no doubt, the M3 is up there for me also but the price on both is a bit steep. They are what I call MSRP shock, and though I have the $$$ to buy either 1 I won't for pure principal but those of you who have them, I am happy for you and I am really happy with my 335, you should have seen the look on the guy driving the ISF when I was passing him lol
am installing the meth kit tomorrow morning...can't wait. then to the track!! I will post the numbers after am done.

I honestly think the C63 is great bang for the buck! I mean, come on dude, its a 4 door family sedan that also has racecar and sportscar characteristic. Nice suspension, HUGE breaks, wonderful seats, very quick, Runs mid 12's out of the box traps 114-115 stock, and its a AMG. You cant beat that for 55k. Plus at the end of the day its a MERCEDES. Oh ya, slap a tune and headers, and boom your almost at 580 hp and will be running low 11's trapping in the 120's. Now thats amazing, I lOVE my c63. Good luck

My friend has the 09 135i with dual cone intake, downpipe, high boost JB3- 18psi race gas at the dragstrip. I was always 1-2mph faster than his car. With just a tune in the C63 he would be toast. My C63 is bonestock.

What did I startmy post saying??? I like the C63, and I am not putting it down or the M3, when I was trying to decide on whether or not to go for either one. With my spec's the M3 came out at $67K and the Merc came at $68K, I refuse to pay that kind of money for either one, I WILL however consider them slightly used and I am actively looking and I am finding some pretty enticing deals on both cars from $47-$52K, I wouldn't mind that.
I got my loaded 335I for $42K after $5k Off from the BMW dealer and my payment is at $560 with $2000 dwn due to great residuals, my owners choice is up on it in about a year and then its all up for grabs..the car I buy next, M3 OR C63, will depend on which has a supercharge/turbocharge kit out and least probs. I love both cars, I especially love the roar out of the C63 better even than the M, I am a bimmer guy but I am still fair, I don't put down others just for being different.
Thanks

Hi , I am not going to get into a money discussion as different people have different feeling what they spend money one.

I mean I can buy a watch for $5 buck or buy a Rolex for $10,000 so what is the best bang for the buck????

is a rolex that great? what functions does it have? NOTHING

MY CAR COST ME $160GRAND.

my car is about 600HP the cost for the GPwr skii clubsport in the states is about $20,000usd.

I have bought 3 different exhaust systems. total cost me over $10,000usd easy.

SO NOW YOU KNOW ALL THE FACTS !!!! WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO GET AT???
YOU NEED A BETTER JOB? WHAT?

Honeslty, we are here for friendly competition and mutal respect of great car.

NOT BASHING ABOUT $$$$$ this and that.
