Anyone here interested in buying my stock grill?

Its in mint condition and no chips or damage. I am trying to black out my grill and I am thinking of just buying another grill and getting it blacked out and try to sell my old grill. I think the retail price is close to 400 and I'm willing to sell for much less. PM if interested.

On another note, does anyone have a stock c63 that they would like to sell?

Keep it and wrap it in vinyl. If you don't like just peel the tape off and you're back to stock.

Actually just got the same recommendation from a local shop. Is this safe in regards to rock chips and stuff?

It'll be better than paint in regards to rock chips. It'll protect your grill from bad weather and rock chip, and when it's chipped to hell, just remove and reapply new vinyl.

Ask anyone with painted-anything in the front of their cars and they'll swear at the thoughts of rock chips.

Painted kidney grilles on my E46 BMW three times in ~1,5 years.
Painted my wife's window trim on her CLS 500, just because we wanted them color matched to car color.
Wrapped C63 in satin black and loving it!!

Mine was wrapped by a shop.
And it has two little dabs of paint in the corners of the star.
It was not expensive at all and I doubt I could do it myself.

PS the grill was taken apart, chrome piece and plastic were separated.

Lately I've been thinking about trading the C63. Everything is stock except for the window tint, Michelin PS2 tires, and painted Evosport reflectors (but I do have the stock ones). Not sure if I'm willing to part with it yet but considering it.

It's not too bad. All it takes is a little bit of patience and trial-and-error. Removing the grill from the car is easy. Removing the chrome pieces from the grill is a piece of cake. Wrapping it is probably the hardest part--especially the round parts. If you do it the first time and are not happy with it, you can always redo it. The vinyl itself is about $35 to $40 tops for carbon fiber. Black vinyl is even cheaper.

I spoke to a local shop that does the vinly thing and he told me that it would be very difficult to make it look perfect. He said the edge are going to come off at least somewhat and advised me to go the paint route. Can someone chime in on this? Should I be looking for a another place to vinly my grill or is it really complicated? I was surprised because this guy is supposedly a pretty skilled person at doing vinly (thats all he does) and I've seen some of his crazy graphic works and was surprised to hear him say he couldn't do a perfect job on a grill.

Btw does anyone know if I were to get the grill painted black, can I just take th chrome piece/trim off and just leave that at the shop so I can still drive while I get those painted?

What does he mean by "the edges are going to come off at least somewhat?" It is a bit tricky to wrap around those edges cleanly (to give it a clean look), but they're good sticky vinyl (if you get the good ones) and won't come off easily. I've driven mine in the rain, washed the car a few times already, and the vinyl is still as good as the day I put it on.

I don't see why you can't just leave the chrome pieces off and drive, if you were to paint it.
