Mike,
Those look awesome! Do you also need to remove a heatshield to install these? I think Mthis posted that he had to remove the heatshield on the driver side to install the M*P LTs.

Not totally sure yet...it depends on a few things that are not yet etched in stone. Plus, I'm giving my dealer a little input on this and they have expressed their preferences...
A little L-V get-together next week?

To be honest, there might be. I'm not the biggest fan of coating stainless headers only because stainless steel is a poor conductor of heat. These headers hold the heat in well. However coating them couldn't really hurt.
You do not need to remove the heat shield. we do have installation instructions that come with the kit. For the respected shop or DIYer.

I was also told by this competitor that the big gains on the dyno was due to the fact that the "before" headers had cats while the "after" MHB LTs were without cats.
At least two competitors said that LTs don't gain that much on forced induction cars (SC or TT'd)
Any truth to either of these claims? I am about to pull the trigger on these MBH/DynoComp LTs for my C55 but was told I would be greatly dissapointed about the gains over my current Kleemann mid-tubes.

I was told by one fo the big three tuner shops that ceramic coating stainless steel headers actually make them more brittle than mild steel headers and may cause them to crack over time.

As for coating I've heard that too, but only heard. I haven't personally seen it, but that only because that situation hasn't been presented to me. So, I'm really not sure.

MBH/hooleyboy, the headers look good. One thing is confusing, though. Here, in the C63 subforum, you call them "63 headers" and posted the pics. The implication seems to be they're for a C63; at least, from the responses, that seems to be how C63 owners take it.
In the w211 forum, you said:
This would seem to imply that the headers pictured in the recent photos are specific to the E and CLS chassis and won't fit on a C63.
Sorry for not understanding - assuming what I *think* you're saying is true, it seems that the C63 header is the same one posted earlier, which presumably hasn't changed and has been produced and shipped out to customers for ~ 1 month now; it seems that these new photos are of E/CLS63-specific headers soon to be released, and which you make mention elsewhere that these don't fit on a C63.
In the w211 forum, you said:
Here is a sneak peak at the all new 63 header that will be available for the CLS63 and E63. We hoped we could get away with fitting the C63, but it was not meant to be. So we made some adjustments to the headers. Keping the idea of the C63 header in mind this is what we got.
If all goes well headers should be dyno tested tomorrow...
Here are some quick pics of an almost finished set of the new CLS63/E63 headers.

If bhamg does the dyno here in Vegas, he could go to the same place where Eurocharged held their Tune Day on a DJ. You will just need to show the operator how to put it in Dyno Mode.
#272
Will do. Then I'll be off to Dyno-Comp for the in-shop install and baseline/wo cats/w cats runs. Software also.

Are the cats even worth it if we're not even sure they will pass smog checks? Would a sound deadening resonator that doesn't rob power be more effective if that's the ultimate goal? Someone suggested Vibrant performance, I might give them a try when/if the time comes.
#275
I just put a pair of Vibrant resonators on my car. They sure are purty. They are straight through design so they won't effect flow. My car is very loud though I went with the 12", if you can fit 18" I think that would be better
