What slicks are you guys running?
In an effort to hit mid 12's with just bolt ons for my c55 i am enlisting help through the c63 guys. I have 18x9.5's in the rear and am running 265/35 tires. However I get zero traction at WOT in 1st.
I'd like to be able to get some 18" slicks that I can mount on the back when the season opens up. Or do you guys think I should squeeze on some 16" with some true slicks?
Suggestions?

I haven't gotten my C63 yet, but I am running mid-12s with my older Monte Carlo on only drag radials. They are pretty good nowadays, plus, you can drive out there too w/o changing them. Lastly, you can " adjust" your fininshing RPMs by adjusting the tire diameter too. It's like changing your rear axle ratio w/o all the work!

narrower? hmm....my stock streets are 245s....so 255s is thicker for me. i'm not a tire expert, but the tires are definitely stickier. softer compound, made for maximum traction. i dont see why the size DRs i used wouldnt work for you. i mean heck, they work for hooley and i, and we do both put down a little more power than you. for the c55, i'd just PM hooley and ask. he knows best, having pulled a 1.6 and all with no LSD on DRs lol.

Out Of Control!!
Do you want to keep your current rims or would you be willing to go to 16"? For a 12s NA car you should be just fine running a Mickey Thompson ET Street RADIAL 265/40/18. Make sure your wheel offsets will allow this to fit without rubbing. I don't recommend slicks unless you get a bias ply front tire to match. Drag Radials will be more than enough for you. Good luck

Hello friends, i have a C55 here in Paraguay. Here the drags races are very amateur; we only have one drag circuit, and is just for 1/8 mile. The national competition for drag race is 1/8. I was competing with mine C43 last year, but this year I will compete with mine new C55.
The asphalt is in very bad condition. Checked with mine Gtech I loss .5 seconds in the track vs a good circuit. The fastest cars are the Subaru’s, there are a lot of them very wheel prepared. The national motor sport is rally really, with good cars, lots of EVO, Subaru and some WRC class cars, anyway good for a small country as Paraguay…
I was thinking to get a pair of slicks for mine rears, due the as asphalt is really bad. You guys think I will get better numbers with the bad surface and slicks?. I need to buy a set of tires for normal day from USA and send those to here in Paraguay due the lack of options available, just bad Chinese’s brands and only 245/40 or 245/45 available in good brands. I was thinking to purchase the set of Conti or PS/2 and also a pair of slicks for drag… what slick you guys recommended for mine situation?. What rims I should get for those slicks?
Thanks for the Help from a drag race amateur fan from Paraguay!!

For a rookie drag racer as me, is easy to launch from slicks or drag radials?. I will keep the slicks or DR tires with rims just for racing, and use regular radials for daily use.
As this tires are going to be just for drag racing, is better to get slicks or DR?. I read some articles saying slicks are best.
Since i need the get rims also, what size is recomended for mine C55?
