Need a final verdict, 19" AMG 16 spoke wheels, largest rear size - ordering soon!

I too have read through a billion pages of threads and there verdict is not so clear.

AMG 19s front - verdict = 245/35 - that would be +1, and i have not issue with that one. That seems to be universal

But the rears - i'm seeing lots of 275/30s. that would be +2. can some of you with these particular wheels please assure me that they do not rub!?!?

i do no want to drop 700 on tires only to take them off and have to put 265/30s on. That is the size that seems the safest at +1.

I'm ordering these soon, so please give me your verdicts

275/35/18 don’t rub. Maybe if I had 2 250 pound guys in my back seat or 10 50 lb bags of dirt in the trunk they might rub going over a big bump. It looks like enough clearance to JUST tuck in though even with a full travel of the suspension.

Go with the 275's more rubber on the street and they look hot. A lot wider than the 255's.

I was told 19x9.5 in the rear with 265 would fit nicely.

There's probably a dozen guys that have said 275.30s don't rub on 19s.

Just get the 275s, if you need to, it will only be a minor fender roll. Besides, you'll have better compliance with a 275 tire.

I have the wheels you are interested in and I have the 265/30/19 and have no issues, I have thought of replacing them with 275 next time in the spring as my rears are showing lots of wear, but I am hesitant to go one size bigger as it may rub, to be safe go with 265 on the 19 inch AMG wheel.

I HAVE 19s.

275/30/19 fits perfectly!!

Get some Kuhmo's cheaper and you wont notice a difference from the more expensive tires. Plus you will be going through lots of rears anyways.

Guys, its not just the size of the wheel that matters, its also the offset and how the wheel sits in relation to the guard/strut.

Just because 275's fit on some 19's, doesn't mean it will fit on all 19's.

I'm getting the AMG 16 spoke 19s. So anyone who has them, i'd like to hear from. If you have these wheels, i'd love to know what you're running.

After this thread, i'm no closer to being totally sure what will work. I don't want to be thinking, "oh ****e, i've got uncle louie in the back seat and my tires are going to rub." I'm thinking the 265s are the safe option, but i'm also thinking the 275s will look baaaaad ***.

I have the AMG 19s, and I'm running 235/35 up front and 265/30 in the rear. I am also lowered a little over an 1" all around, but I have no rubbing issues. I am a little hesitant to go bigger because I am lowered. Also, not all tires are the same from brand to brand and model to model. For example, my 265/30 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Positions fit perfect, however I have seen Toyo R888s in 265 widths on the 19" rims that look more like 285s in comparison. Those particular tires looked like they ballooned more over the rim compared to mine. Just more food for thought.

Right on! For what it's worth, it appears that the "Asian" brands (Yokohama, Hankook, Kumho, etc) are generally "skinnier." No race jokes, now....

Yeah I've noticed the same thing, haha. I've run Toyo T1Rs and those were a skinny tire too. But I think maybe these R-Compounds like the R888s are generally fatter Not to turn this into a tire thread, but I'm planning on trying the Bridgestone RE-11s next.

If you want to be sure, I have the 265 on the exact wheels you are ordering, I have tracked the car with these wheels and tires(Pirelli PZero) and have zero rubbing issues, I am a little hesitant to move up the one size as it seems a little tight, besides, I find the car on the track is well balanced with this setup. If I owned a tire shop I might have ordered the 275 and tried them out, if there is rubbing, oh well, sell them or return them, the fact that I do not own a tire shop, I am not willing to take the gamble and eat those 275's if there are issues.

Apologies for the slightly off topic question but since we are on this wonderful topic, what are the original 19s 16 spoke tires and tire sizes that you get outside of North America.

Are they Continental ContiSportContact 3 (Max Performance Summer), F: 235/35ZR19 R: 255/30ZR19 or are they PIRELLI PZERO, F: 225/35R19 88Y R: 255/30R19 91Y?

I am trying to figure out what the OEM tires and sizes are?

Thanks!

Merc-Sky, I have heard they are either the conti's or the pirelli outside of north america, but the size OEM for that rim is 235/35/19 front and 255/30/19 rears......Merc63, didnt realize you had the 19" AMG 16 spoke wheel, in your post you made no mention of it...what tires besides the khumo's did you try on that wheel, or did you always have that tire as someone mentioned some tires are fatter/wider than others as the way they are manufactured.
