C63 vs C55TT

What are your thoughts about AMG's C55TT? It's actually got 422bhp vs. 451 but can the C55TT get to the C63's 550bhp with the same investment in mods.

Why didn't they just lower the compression and TT the C63 instead?

I would have been all over that and dropped the idea of 3yr old SL65 idea in heartbeat.

I just logged into AMG private lounge and got the latest update. I was wrong. The source I originally got the 422ph was from www.slkworld.org.

The C55TT will be rated at 571bhp.

See link here. http://www.mercedes-amg.com/privatelounge/index.php

I'm going to place my order as soon as it becomes available. I see the potentially modded C55TT outperforming a modded SL65 due to it's new technology yet should be more fuel-efficient.

Now I don't feel so bad that I did not pick up a C63 if this C55TT's ECU can even be hacked.

For whatever reason, I couldn't get into the private lounge.

That said, I'd be a little shocked if the C class AMG has 571 hp....

571bhp! ****! And I thought 450hp in a C-class was crazy.

No way they will release the engine at full power in a C63 though.

Where on that announcement and/or site does it say the new 5.5TT will be for a C-AMG car? All that's been confirmed is that it'll go on the S63 AMG.

It will be de-tuned to 544bhp but I'm sure Renntech and Kleemann will unlock it in no time.

The announcment states that this config will debut in the S63. Strange but why don't they just call it an S55T?

I guess I'd have to wait another year like summer of 2011 instead of this summer.

Yeah, I really don't think we'll be hearing anything about the TT engine for the C AMG for another year or two even. And then who's to say it will be the 5.5TT? I think it's still too early to speculate even though that's been all the buzz lately. But even then, I would want to wait at least another year after the C TT has been released to see how well the engine handles the aftermarket tuning, especially with FI. I'm content with the 6.3 for now. There's still plenty left in this engine to stay competitive

Again, where are you getting these "claims?" The 5.5TT comes out at 544hp, it's an optional Performance Package that can bump it up to 571hp. Once again, this has only been confirmed for the S63. Please do not make claims without credible sources. If you do have a reliable link, please post so and I will glad to be proven wrong.

I would think so. I mean other than an article stating that MB would be changing over to TT engines, what do we really know about the next engine going into the C. The earliest I could see the TT coming to the C AMG would be 2012, but even then some have said from the AMG Private Lounge that the C won't get the TT engine until the next body change, W205.

Too many unanswered questions at this point. If you want to wait for the TT, I think it is a bit risky. You wait a year, it doesn't come out, then wait another, still doesn't come out...by this point you've waited so long you might as well wait another etc. I have no doubt the TT will be awesome, and I'm excited for it to arrive, but the 6.3 is too!

I must have took another forum's posting as gospel. My bad...

btw...That is the best color for a C63 I've seen. It really makes the muscle lines stand out.

Agree w/ Avenger, it gives an HP range...and IF the C gets this motor, it will be at the bottom of the HP spectrum w/ max 544bhp. I don't fancy the C will get this for at least 3-4 years after production release...they will want people to go big or go home when buying

Forget it then. Kleemann should have introduced a low-boost SC kit for the 63back when the 63 motor was first lauched in 2008. They could had a 7 year run before all the AMGs go to 5.5tt.
