It's OT for this thread, but in looking at these results it reinforces how crazy (in a good way) that tune + airbox only C63 performed (460 rwhp IIRC) on this exact same dyno, operator, etc. a little while ago. You guys (DC/RT) are building some 63's with huge dyno #'s.

Finally, MBH made their longtube headers and they are making 15whp in top of what GS made which is 40whp more that what Renntech made so we are talking like 60whp plus compare to stock.!! You are just not seing the big picture. These headers top of any otherprevious header tested on his car by a long shot.

These new headers are in paper the winning headers, at least that is my opinion. my .2c
If I am following this, then these headers actually made 60whp+ over the RENNTECH headers, not over stock.

Renntech - made x over stock
GS - 40whp over Renntech
These - 15whp over GS, 65 total over RT, who knows over stock

Right?

Which air box was used for the comparison? I really want to find anyone that has a positive experience with the Renntech air box. Its a LOT of money when I can't find anyone that can give me some experience?? Can you test it with the Carbonio vs Renntech air box?? I would be willing to pay for the dyno runs everything remaining the same.

The RennTech air boxes do make power. I've seen it gain 7 rwhp on a tuned CLS63 over the stock air boxes. However, I am almost positive that on the track when you have 120 mph winds hitting the car, the gains will show at least double. On the dyno, it is very expensive to simulate 50 mph winds let alone 120 mph.

I understand what you are saying but is that 7-10hp over the stock boxes or 7-10hp over the Carbonio? I already have the Carbonio and would upgrade if there is a benefit. Thats why I wanted them to compare the Carbonio vs Renntech. Its a LOT of $$$ if they are just equal to the Carbonio.

The 7 rwhp that I was talking about was an upgrade over stock boxes. It was a local CLS63 with an aftermarket tune. They did 4 baseline dyno runs, and then let the car cool down for 30 minutes, then installed the RennTech airboxes and ran the car 3 more times. The gains were 6 to 7 rwhp, but they were using a very cheap fan (I would guess no more than 5 mph winds).

I understand where you're coming from. And you maybe right, as I am not sure how much more gains the RennTech boxes will give you over the Carbonio boxes. I can tell you this however, the two members that have dynoed their cars with and without the Carbonio boxes said they did not see any gains on the dyno

A direct comparison is likely the best way to get a decisive answer on this.

Sorry I'm not sure if it did or not as I didn't examine the boxes. The car dynoed consistently 411 to 412 rwhp on all 4 back-to-back runs. After the RennTech air box installations, the car dynoed 416, 417, and 419 rwhp. Please note that RennTech spends a great deal of time and money on research and development and their products do make the power they claim. They are much more conservative in their claims than others, but at least they do deliver.

.
Also, was it a stock NA or a stock "ROW" box top?

That Renntech box sure looks like it would make power with those smooth runners. I wonder how it would do if it was coupled with the Gruppe M front intake portion?

Sorry to go OT, but since Dad is willing to pay for the dyno runs, it still benefits Hooley.

If Rick has all of these extra parts, I wonder how many blue suits does he have?

well we had hoped to get Rick out to the drag strip, but it looks like both of them are closed this weekend. So we switched it up and now ricks car is going road racing Saturday with Dyno-Comp.

We rented the road course at Firebird raceway in AZ, Rick's car will be pitted against so mind boggling car, 599 GTB, Lambo's, assorted Ferrari's, C63's, ClS55's, E55's, Porsche's, and an insane ZR1 that Dyno-Comp built 700whp and over 800wtq. Just to name a few...

Knowing that the owner of the ZR1 is crazy, we pulled about 50whp out of it. It might end up being a race of who lands in a ditch first.

I spent most of the day with Rick, going over his car. The guys finalized a 100oct map and that bad boy made something close to 500whp or something. Then it was Bottle time, and that final number is just ridiculous. I wish I see the final run, but I had all I could take from the dyno running all day long.

Its going to be an early morning for me, so I'm calling it a night. Rick's car was a big success. All of us are happy with the way the car turned out. Rick is a real great guy. One of those guys you just want to build a car for. Then go the extra mile.

I have my car back Well I was hoping to go to the drag strip here in AZ but looks like they are closed. So althought I won't get any 1/4 mile run I will be playing on the road coarse in the morning with Dyno Comp. I will have a chance to push the car a little but I won't push it to much as I only have my 20" Show wheels on and just not enough rubber for me to feel safe. I will have at least 4 cameras mounted on the car. By the way the car is Wow what a FANTASTIC JOB , I couldn't be any more pleased with the out come. Headers 100%, new nitrous DRY SHOT setup 100% and the A/F 11.5- 12.3 with and without the juice, I will give a full report tomorrow. It's an early day of racing so it's bed time. WOW I don't want to hear another dyno run for at least a month

Your friend probably doesn't have them. They are on the air box top lids of North American cars.

...would be interesting to see what difference between this 4-2-1 vs. your 4-1 design into an CLS55
