That depends on the country where you live - ask your dealer or the Mercedes-Benz website.

The P31 has engine upgrades and more power (30 hp) but no LSD which the P30 has. The LSD is a stand alone option now. P31 is $6000 in Canada and $2400 for the LSD.

Does the p31 retain the track calibrated suspension of the p30? I thought I read somewhere the firmer suspension was deleted.

Pretty sure I'm going with the p31, just not entirely sure about the red calipers. Waiting for info on MY 2011 before pulling the trigger, maybe they'll have an option for p31 w/ silver calipers.

The P31 has red calipers. Does anyone know if only the color is different or if the calipers themselves are different and what the difference(s) might be?

AMG P31 Development Package - $5950 usd (I think) from AMG site.

. lightweight AMG forged pistons
. lightweight connecting rods
. revised crankshaft (lightweight?)
. revised ECU
. red-painted brake calipers
. CF trunk spoiler
. exclusive engine intake runners in titanium grey finish
. top speed increased to 174 mph
. power increase (+30 hp)
. AMG performance steering wheel in black premium leather with Alcantara side grips
. AMG high-performance braking system with compound front rotors 14.2" with 6-piston fixed calipers at front axle, perforated and internally ventilated for optimum weight and enhanced fatigue strength

I have an obsedian black c63 with the red calipers. The Red Calipers make it look awesome and the car stands out. I have seen the silver calipers on other C63 and they look plain and blend in with the other C series cars. I get alot of people staring at my car and the red calipers. I was afraid at first how they would look but I am totally glad I got them.

I have the P30. The "plain"silver calipers do stand out. Alot of people ask about them because they are huge!

I have a P31 (Palladium) and while I love it, I am not a fan of the red calipers. Wish they were black. But not so badly that I'd do anything about it.

Palladium Silver is THE best color IMHO...yours is such a beautiful car, but I agree, the calipers don't look great...maybe a darker red would be better.

+1 on the palladium silver and the red.. mine's an obsedian black on a fully loaded P30.. don't really know why AMG had to colour code the brakes in red.. kinda loses it's sleek and cool identity with silver/grey..

My personal opinion is the P31 is totally worth the price of admission.

I have a doubt, I have a 2011 c63 amg, and last weekend i could reach 280 km/h(174mph), and limiter went on, i own it in Argentina, its the european version.. but i think it hasnt got perf. pack. or development p. because it hasnt got red calipers nore Carbon f. lip.. may it have a factory perform package that only includes raising the speed limit up to 174 and have 30 more hp without the calipers.. etc?

the only thing I found is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_C-Class
AMG P31 Development Package (2010-)

The european (especially the german version) of the performance package does not include the v-max of 280km/h. The v-max-limiter-adjustment to 280km/h is a separate option called "Drivers Package" and has nothing to do with the performance package in germany.

This package doesn't include the +30hp. If you want to know it exactly, just send me your VIN via PN and I can tell you.

Thank you! you`re right there is a manual that came with the car where explains this package called "drivers package" the only thing it does is moving the speed limit from 250 kmh(155mph) to 280 kmh (176 mph). Every c63 that came to Argentina from 2010 on came with that good for nothing parcially limited package with no extra ponies!
besides it reaches that speed extremely fast, now I want to remove it at all and also reprogram the ECU to get these extra horses hehe.
I think the performance will remarcably improve considering here in Argentina premium fuel has 100 octane.

I'm very curious about the level of octane a stock C63 can handle. So, do you use 100 octane when you fill up your gas tank? To your knowledge, is this a pretty typical practice for owners of "63" series car in your country?

I look forward to the feedback.

Yes, most of 63 owners use fuels between 98-100 octane, I don't know What would be the difference using 92 octane, that is the lowest octane pump gas here. Due to the compression ratio, 98-100 octane would be the appropriate one.

Thank you.

Where I live in CA, we use 91 octane. Not fun, but what can you do..?

(a)'12 C63 P/P, LSD, 19" m/spoke,comfort pack. (b)Astra SRI.
Thumbs up

In Aus, we have either 91,95, or 98 Octane, available at the pump.
We choose to run BP "Ultimate" (98) in our '12 P31 C63.
Cheers, Pickles.
