Great showing of C63 vs. GT3

Just completed a great run against a GT3...I wasn't sure exactly what a GT3 was capable of before, and I actually was sort of minding my business at a merge point...he pulled in behind me, swerved back and forth a few times, and then I hit it and jumped into the next lane (left 2 wide open so I picked the first one).

He rolled in behind me and pulled all the way out to the far left lane...we were rolling. As we went from 60-90 or so, he stayed close, but I pulled maybe a 1/2 car...but 100, I was 1 car+ out...we shut down at 120 or so, and I had him by about 2 cars.

He pulled up and gave a HUGE thumbs up...Loved it that a porsche guy would be that cool...

We exited (after 10 miles of just cruising at 65), and he pulled up next to me...he said he couldn't believe he couldn't reel me in, and said he had a 2010 GT3 (it had the LSD Audi Looking road lights). He then commented on my new license plate (C63-GO) and said, "Glad to see that plate actually means something".

Anyway, looks like the GT3 isn't the swiftest of Porsches, but for a 4-dr lower-priced sedan to be able to man-up...I was pretty proud.

One thing is for sure, though...I may be a bit faster, but his car sure was (more) beautiful. I LOVE the rear end of the GT3, and with the LSD road lights, the front is really accentuated...good ride!

Nice kill, are you running a P30 package and LSD?? Not that the LSD would make that much difference at those speeds anyway??

Our little C will hold its own against the giants out there.
The GT3 is engineered to be a track car (it is an awesome one, stock) and not for highway pulls. I don't mean that it is not fast but a tuned C63 will be a challenge to anything under $150K i.e. it will not be an a _ _ whooping

Nice...but throw some turns in there and the GT3 would have come out (way) ahead.

LZH...copy that 100%. I love the stance of the car, and he must have had 305ZRs on the back...it was beautiful.

I was just surprised that at highway speeds, it was a nice little run. But he was cool as *****.

I wish we had a track around here. We do have a small drifting thing they set up monthly at Aloha Stadium...but that's good if you are trying to finish off a set of tires, thats all.

How would the CLK BS stack-up on the track against a GT3?

I find that most Porsche owners are really cool. There is a guy in my neighborhood with a relatively new 911 Turbo and he went out of his way to roll down his window and tell me how much he liked my C63. Pretty cool to have a guy who spent twice as much on a car do that.

No P30 or LSD.

I do have a K1 tune and the GT PRO Double X pipes.

Looks like stock for stock, the GT3 should win off the line and then is slightly faster from 60-100 (book racing is always hard, but GT3 posts an impressive 4.8s 60-100 time nonetheless).

With my mods, I'm throwing down a little north of 500bhp...he is at 435bhp. But he weighs 3250lb or so (7.5lb/hp ratio). I'm at 7.67lb/hp.

Here's a good spec sheet...what a beaut!!

I think that is the beauty of this situation...yeah, get on a track and we are done!

However, where the world can see, a little 4-door C-class (without more than a few bolt-ons) crawled away from the mighty GT3...imagine those on the road (who weren't pissed or scared) thinking, dang, that little Benz is MOVING! What's wrong with the Porsche?

GT3 did the Nurburgring in 7:42. CLK BS in 8:02. Draw your own conclusions.

Off the line the GT3, only if the driver knows how to shift!

Sure but in a straight line the GT3 has no torque. I am talking about the first GT3 though. I strongly believe that the C63 with the ECU upgrade will pull away from a GT3.

Depends on the track. On a tight technical track the GT3 wins. On an open high horsepower track, the Black Series wins.
When you or I or anyone else who reads this gets on a track together, it's a drivers race.

Okay, I choose this one.
Black Series 7:45 by Berndt Schneider and 997 GT3 7:42 by (guess who?) Walter Rohrl.

PS. Black Series is 770 pounds heavier ...no disrespect intended to Mr. Rohrl!

Both drivers are legends and I have met Bernd Schneider on several occasions at the "Ring"
