Question about modding something on the interior?
Has anyone modded the cheapy silver plastic around the outside of the shifter.
My car is going to have CF trim so I was thinking like a piano black finish--either painted or possible a vinyl wrap or if any manufacturer makes a CF piece that would match.
Has anyone done anything and if so pics please.
The C63 interior does have some spots that could use a better touch--nice weather today and I drove my CLK and thought to myself how rich of an interior it has, no cheapy plastic parts.
But I don't think any of us bought the C63 for its opulent interior!
Also, I know some of you guys have swapped out the shifter to CF or burl, does that plastic piece come off or is it attached permanently?
In other words can it be removed painted and reinstalled.
My car won't be here 'til August
so I have to pass the time planning my mods! Thanks

I am also having the interior trim swapped out for CF and the package I bought from DCT has the piece around the shifter - the set is been installed on Wed and I will post pics - here is thread on their CF interior package https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...erior-set.html
I also replaced OEM door lock pins with CF AMG versions. Front easy to do, the rear are a pain.
harrower, does DCT make a replacement piece for what I'm talking about, I didn't see it pictured in the thread you posted.
avenerboater, is that a vinyl wrap, it looks like dry cf--and how difficult was it to remove the piece, if indeed you had to.
what do others think of a gloss black piece with my CF trim?

I've sat in plenty of nicer interiors than my CLK for sure (my whole family is car fans and we grew up with nice cars), it's all relative of course.
I was just comparing my CLK to the C63.
The S600 does have a nice inteior, but there's always nicer and faster everything in cars--like Rolls and Bentley and Bugatti.
Anyway, I digress.
BTW I think the nicest MB interior right now is the new CL--I sat in one at the dealership and was like
sorry I got you confused with harrower

Overall the quality of the wheel and trim are good and I am pleased with result. Most of the trim was OEM fit and went in fairly easy. The wheel was easy to do and was a breeze to do. The pedal are fine, except the root rest plate on the left hand side will require me to trim the AMG OEM mat so the rest plate is exposed. No fault with product here; just that AMG does not have a rest plate as standard so the mat has a lip that goes up the floorboard.
Now I need some feedback (no flames please) on the center cap for the wheel. Do I leave the Tri-Star or go with the AMG cap?
If interested the vendors of the products are as follows:
CF Wheel & Trim - DCT Motorsports - see thread here. https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...erior-set.html They are excellent to deal with and Ivan there was very responsive and helpful. A+ vendor
Pedals - JB Speed - see thread here https://mbworld.org/forums/exterior-...pedals-mt.html No problems at all.

I personally love the AMG badge in the wheel--at first I wasn't so sure if I'd like it, but the photo looking straight at the wheel looks really good
+1 on the air freshener--ba bye
CF Center console - Euro version
CF Instrument cluster
CF vents - all three
and that should it for the interior.
External mods:
CF vented hood - been fabricated now - should have installed in 3 weeks or so
CF mirror shells
CF front bumper side vents
CF front Carlsson tri-lip/splitter
19" wheels - not sure yet, but looking at Forgestar and some others. Need at least 275 in rear. Any recommendations?
looking at DTM bumper that is been developed by Revosport as per thread, but want to see what it looks like before I commit to it.
and that will be it. Car is going in for Vath engine mods in fall which will start the engine mods and performance mods.
Man, are these things money-pits or what
