His mama. Traded y0 mama in because she was squeaking.
Oil starts to break down at around 240F.
I don't knwo the operating specs of the ml63, but to me, it sounds like it's a little high? I don't get such high oil temps even when pulling heavy loads with a Cummins or Powerstroke motors - for example-.

I've asked something very similar in the past and will be trying to remedy the situation pretty soon. Heat is definitely the enemy just like any high hp motor.

Sometimes oil temps do climb up quite a bit on the 63s especially when on a track, and when it happens, the car certainly feels it and dials down the power a little. I think an additional oil cooler (or a better one than stock) would help the 63s a great deal.

2010 C63
At Road Atlanta last weekend at the AMG Driving Academy, the E63's were seeing on-track oil temps of 275-280F - No warning lights at those temps, but power was being backed off, I assume due to the engine temperatures. The mechanics did not seem concerned about it.
Oil temps of 225 F in my C63 are routine. I see that all the time, and have not noticed the oil fan coming on at that temp.
I talked to the head mechanic about the transmission in tracked C63's. He says that the transmission has two radiators - a dedicated stand alone cooler in the front and another integrated with the engine coolant radiator. He says they have had no problems at all with the transmissions in their C's on track. Now, based on my experience at the Basic class, they are going out for 4-5 laps at a time, typically in C, so extended lapping may cause more problems. He did say that Manual is much harder on the car and generates more heat in the tranny. Check out the other threads - there is more info on transmission cooling there.

I would like to see better oil cooling and trans cooling for the C63. I was on the track this past Saturday and saw oil temps in the high 270s and my trans was kiling me, taking away torque and manual mode after about 5 laps or 1/2 of a session. It was hot out (102F), but based on the cooling listed earlier in this thread, if sufficient airflow is passing over the coolers we shouldn't see these issues.
