C63 Insurance Rates...

Just traded my '08 C350 for an '09 C63 and was wondering what level of hit I'm gonna take on my insurance. I'm with Wawanesa here in So Cal and they say it will take them a few days to calculate. What have you folks experienced?

I am at over $8000 a year, that is with ICBC. Where I live (BC) canada we dont have private insurance companies rather we have a monopoly.

I am a new driver with no accidents that is me at fault..

If I have a big accident that is my fault my insurance will go up by 100%

That is insanity. I currently pay $2100 a year for full coverage on a 2004 Tahoe Z71, 2007 Acura MDX and a 2008 MB C350. I'm thinking the change from C350 to C63 will cost me a few hundred a year extra.

Another C63 in HB? what color? You didn't by chance have a red C350 with AMG badges before, did you? I see that guy around a lot.....

Depending on how many miles you put on the car per year, don't worry, it's not so bad. I think I pay about 700/year for my C63. Low miles and multi-car discounts. I am also with Wawanesa.

$4,000 AUD (2.56% of the purchase price of the car)

I am mentioning % of purchase price to put it into perspective with you US guys.

If you are paying $8,000 on a $75,000 car, thats over 10%!! wowie!

I had a red C350 but wouldn't dare put AMG badges on it. It had the 18" AMG wheels but that's about it.

OH, and my 63 is white with black. Got it in San Diego for a steal. 9K miles, CPO, P2, MM, iPod, AMG seating. Absolutely mint. Not even a scratch under the front bumper. I'm loving it. My kids do too. The wife? Well, it's just a car to her.

You're a "NEW" driver with no discount, rite? Teenager?
Is the rate higher for "New" drivers?

F*ck ICBC and its monopoly... And they'd like to deny your claims as hard as they can.
Not to mention insurance rates in Toronto and Montreal are even more expensive than Vancouver's. LOL

In Ottawa, Canada... the rate for this car is reasonable. I pay 1290$/year for full coverage w/ 500$ deductibles. It will be even lower after my refund for storage in winter motnhs.

My insurance company told me it's more expensive to insure a Civic than the C63.

You know, now that I think about it I have seen a guy in what I thought was a red C63 on Adams a few times. Before I was in the market I didn't realize what visual clues would set a 63 apart from a 350. I just saw the badges on the back and assumed I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. How silly.

Holy cow, that's almost my car payment. That's got to be due in large part to your age and/or driving record.

3pointrider: how much coverage did you chose to get that $339 quote?
Having 25/50 coverage versus 100/300 will make a huge difference.

I pay around 2400 a year, DC Metro area (PG County unfortunately, puts me in a higher tax bracket.. if only we would finally succeed to Ann Arundal County and my insurance would drop significantly)

I don't have a C63 but 8k doesn't sound right to me for a Mercedes. Either that is a gross exaggeration or he definitely has to pay a premium. With my road star (43%) discount, when I was with ICBC, for my C55, I was paying $2k a year. I can't imagine a C63 would be much more, if at all. But for a new driver, if they are paying more than $5k a yr for a low end AMG, that doesn't sound right. Not calling the guy a liar but from my experience, that does not sound right.

Also, when you become a road-star (accident free for 8+ years), you have the option to go private. The rates are significantly better.

*** ICBC. As Seth Rogen puts it best in Knocked up, he a received $15k (?) when his foot was ran over by a car. They really are out to stick it up your rear end every chance they get.

I heard nowadays new drivers pay higher rates...?
And rates for cars like civics, so called teenagers' cheap rides, coupes and "dangerous" car, are higher now ? because of the high accident rate.
LOL B!tchy ICBC!

Go private? Where? BCAA? ICBC is a b!tch and a blood sucking Madoff.

Even the insurance is so expensive for those "Chinese" new drivers.
There's still a butt load of Lambos, Ferraris, Bentleys, R8 V10s, AMGs, BMW Ms with the green "N" tag on the cars' butt.
Over $10K a year is just like pocket change.

Haha, cool. I bet that's the guy! I've seen him on 17th and at the car wash. He was wearing a Mercedes racing shirt as well. Ahh well, a real fan of the brand. His car looks really nice but with the AMG side badges and AMG front plate, I had to laugh. Now we can gang up on him I hope to see you around! Congrats on your car

Plenty of private companies that do auto insurance but they only accept experienced drivers. I am with Canadian Northern Shield.
