Well i wanted to ask for those who followed break-in procedures. I'm currently at 1,040 miles and was wondering what the next best step would be. Should i grind it out and wait a little longer and please don't tell me to smash the throttle even though every ounce of me wants to.

I know i can slowly increase rpm's, but i don't plan on going WOT just yet. At what mileage did you guys who broke in the car start giving a good spirited push. Any help would be great.

Just mash the throttle. I followed the manufacture break in period and now my car has 18,000 miles on it. No problems whatsoever and it seems to be burning a lot less oil (oil light coming on less frequent).

You have a warranty use it. 250 miles, no issues.

I mean i understand i have a warranty. I also have health insurance, but i'm not going to smoke 10 packs a day just to use it. I read somewhere here that people were breaking-in their cars longer and just wanted to clarify, Since i've already come this far at 1047 miles. Might as well follow through and do it right.

Followed the break-in recommendation, then tuned it and runs great, 4,100 miles on this oil change haven't used ANY.

So you only broke it in for 1,000 miles and then went hard?

That's a good analogy...what are actually doing that is right by breaking it in over 1000 miles?

I have a set of ***** so I did not follow the break in and got my car modded and chipped and now having a blast with my car.

im juss sayn that there are others who would rather baby it so should any problems arise, their break-in procedure isnt questioned

to stay on point, i followed break-in as best i could, limiting my launches to 4.5k or whatever its set at...i think i might have unintentionally kicked down 1 time around 700 miles or so but besides that, i was on point - after 1000 i gradually, but swiftly, elevated from 5k to 7k

and just so nobody gets their panties in a bunch, my parents also bought mine as a grad present - however i am also working for my dad now soooo yea

i didn't follow the break-in procedure, drove it hard once the oil temp reached 200+... and not too long got the eurocharged tune... and drove it harder and had a blast for 40000+ miles in 22 months.

Well I doubt there is anyone that has babied the C63 more than I have. I bought it in June 08 and have little over 7K miles on it. I didn't go WOT until after I hit the 2,500 mile mark. Even now I barely ever push the car to it's limits. MB Techs laugh at me each time they see the car. Maybe I should have kept that part to myself but I am sure members here can attest to the fact that I more than baby the vehicle. lol

My car came with 18or 19miles not 100% sure but I did leave the dealer parking lot sideways with ESP off lol. Off yea my car ran 12.1 stock and running great

What I think you should do now is. Change the oil Give it a hard beating for another 1000miles change the oil again then you good to go.

Break in period? Oops.

i took the car to the track as soon as it ran 1500km( around 900miles).

I just followed the MB recommendations

Lotus sells cars to enthusiasts like us. They trust that their owners understand and care for engines and thus they print detailed break-in instructions in their manuals. This is for a 2005 Elise but you might be interested as I think it applies to any engine. The Lotus ECU also logs everything you do so when you go in for your break-in service, they can tell whether you followed the procedure.... hey, it's right there in the manual!

BTW, you see the scribbles around this area of the manual. That was done by our Lotus dealer.

Not really HARD but I enjoyed it, manual shifts and spirited runs to 100 or so. The tune made scar come alive. Next oil change in a week or so as I have 8.5k on the ODO after 1-year.

Let me say one thing, what is there to ask about? It clearly tells you on your window sticker that you will be done breaking in at XXXX amount of KM/M and once you have reached that what is there to worry about? That was factory instructions and I think that is over babying the car. It's one thing when you follow the rules and do everything right to keep your car from having any issues but its another thing following the rules and trying to make more rules for yourself after you have broken in the car. That seems like getting your panties in a bunch to me.

It's a car, you followed the rules and broken in like you were suppose to. After that stop babying the car and have fun. Or you can drive for the next 20K Miles at under 3000 RPM

Why do i get the feeling your very upset over the situation. I'm asking b/c i read somewhere here that people went over the 1000 mile mark. Since i've put these miles on within a week. It doesn't feel like i've done enough. BTW the title says "4 Those of you who actually followed break-in". It seems as though you like to cause unnecessary trouble. I've already heard all the why you should break it in hard stories. It's too late obviously for that since i'm at a little over 1000 miles, but since i've made it this far why not take the extra mile to maybe insure a great driving experience later... I don't know about you, but buying this car required hard work for me and i personally can't help but babying her. It's a small price to pay when you plan on keeping it for a long time.
