If you do make it, when would it be available?

From whenever we start it, we would have one done for a test fit and pictures in about 6 weeks or so. Then after that it would be about 4 weeks or so for other to be made.

What's the possibility for sema? I was going to buy one of those vented carbon hoods and slightly mod it. Should I wait?

Hmmm, I love SEMA, and it always attacts my attention when cars go there. If we started it soon, having it in time for SEMA would not be a problem. Where in SEMA will your car be? what booth?

Nice, if you wait about 1 week, we should know if it is a 100% go or not, and if it is a go, it will be started right away.

Slightly OT: Does anyone know why AMG designed the engine bay with minimal venting? Where is all this heat supposed to go in our cramped and non-ventilated engine compartment? Has anyone felt how hot the fenders become? Perhaps we may need nylon shims on where the fender bolt onto the apron/upper rails to remove the conductive heat or are they supposed to act like heatsinks?

I do not have great answers for you. But I can assure you the fenders are not suppose to work like heat sinks. I am sure AMG felt the C63 did not require more cooling. I am sure with all their hard testing they felt it stayed in its normal operating temperature range. Can it benefit from being cooler? sure, but then this begs the question, why would AMG not make their supercharged motors with more power if tuners can get more power with just an ECU upgrade alone, also why not have a button to lower airmatic cars to heights we need to buy a lowering module for etc... Some things factory's do you just cannot figure out.

Can't you do something similar to the Viper vents? I just think flat vents won't look right?
Or possibly a small release/raise on the back side of the hood like the old style to let some air out?

The problem is that if we add our own new vents, and not just cutouts, the vents will change the shape of the hood, which is not bad, but it will be such a busy looking hood with the 2 bumps on there already. We want to keep the bumps and keep it simple and clean looking. But now we are playing with some other designs. Can I ask a favor from someone with a C63, can they please take 2 shots for me. 1. The C63 hood backside possibly without the hoodmat thing on the back, and 2 a engine bay shot? I would greatly appreciate it since my C63 customer cannot come in till the end the week and on Friday morning I am leaving for Sebring so i wont see the car till next week.

I think these would look awesome except make them a little wider!! I would make the two side vents in the exact same place as these are next to the natural rise and put the center vent at the rear in the center to let air out facing backwards. I can send engine bay pics tomorrow unless someone else can get them sooner. My car is in the shop or I could give you underside pics. The underside shouldn't matter if you are making the hood with a new design and not redesigning the stock hood. Don't rush it, we've waited this long. THANK YOU for your help.

Paying anything above $600-$700 is insanity. You can buy vented carbon fiber hoods for many other import cars from Seibon or VIS for a fraction. This has nothing to do with Mercedes name, this is about a molding machine that duplicates the oem hood, that is it.

Yes, that is what I am talking about except made into the hood and not a drop in addition. I also believe those are too far back and will be above the struts. Make them smooth on top where the vents are recessed like the viper.

Thank you

How about this kind of hood?

I like how vents are big to get hot air out. If its this kind of hood
I will buy it for sure.

Someone, PLEASE make a hood like this. The vents can be a little smaller so they fit between the shark fin on the stock hood and the other slope but thats the style we need to extract the hot air!!

As you guys see, it is not possible to please everyone. We simply cannot make a hood based off all the comments here. A lot of people are asking for something different. We will use our own design, and extracting hot air from our design is the easy part.

On a side note, was anyone able to get me those pictures i needed? Thanks
