Looks too much like the porsche panamera body mated with a Aston martin/Maserati style front clip. Side fender vents of the M3 and has SLR style wheels. If you ask me, it seems like they got bits and pieces from other cars and put them together. But if you like it, go for it.

i think it's wonderful except the innate problem of "refueling" aka charging. It takes at least 45 minutes to charge the car where you can fill up in less than 10 minutes in an internal combustion car. It's inconvenient.

no more AMG
Sorry, but IMO anyone who supports the green automotive movement and purchases an electric car or hybrid is a communist.

Well I think of it as supporting energy independence away from the middle east oil, not the mention that the Model S has a 17 inch touch screen center console that's REALLY nice. And don't worry, I will be a comme or terrorist over my cold dead body.

Not quite..
Take a look at the chart on the following page..
http://www.teslamotors.com/goelectri...bile-connector
Based on Tesla's own numbers, your looking at 6 hours to fully charge at 50A 240V.

Or 40+ hours off a standard 110V 15A Circuit.

The only way your going to get a 45 min charge, is via specialized charging stations that run of 360 or 480V extremely high current (100+ amps)....

If you live in an older home (like mine which is only provisioned for 100A service), your going to have to add the cost of a service upgrade from your local electrical supplier, thats an easy additional $2k if not more.

The only real advantage to electrical vehicles, is that other then support systems, your not actually using any juice while stopped in traffic, and you don't get the diminished capacity on range you get from traditional gas powered engines that occurs. Your 300 mile range is your 300 mile range, okay based on support system usage (keeping the dash lit, using the radio/ac/etc) that will reduce the range, but not as bad as gas motors.

Forget about taking long trips either...

this would worry me and steer me away from buying one. i would not trust a car company that is just starting out. how much do spare batteries cost? those things will probably last a few years. i wonder what insurance prices will be for these cars also.

it's interesting and I have a feeling in the future we're all going to be driving some version of this--I saw the coupe version in person one night while I was on holiday in Nantucket in June. I took some pics with my BB at night so sorry for the quality.

I thought it was a Lotus and went over to check it out--kinda cool, really small tires and a really small car--hopefully the sedan will be "normal" sized.

Gotta love the license plate

My father had ties with the founder of Tesla Motors.. it's a shame he never opt'd to invest in their first pre-production vehicle. I've been made aware that they're opening their first dealership in Canada by my house here in Toronto. It's cool to have seen them make it this far!

That center console is bad ***!

If anyone ever buys one, PICS RIGHT AWAY!!

I guess at this stage, electric car will more like a novelty than a substitute to our conventional cars.

Go ahead and buy it but let me tell you a few things:
1) That car will not sell at all
2) will be your nightmare when you need to service it or getting parts or getting it repair
3) there will be no dealers around at all

You are getting into a car that only you like and 3 trillion people wouldn't ever buy. Not even worth to me to keep even if I inherited or given as a gift. Just my sincere opinion.
