AMG - positive response to letter

Guys,

Just to show the old adage that "you can attract alot more bees with honey than vinegar" I wrote AMG a letter about 3 weeks ago. My letter was fairly basic in my priase for the M156 and the beauty of the powerplant in the C63. I mentioned that many owners had wished for a few things to meet the performance of the engine such as better cooling (had suggested AMG design studio look at vented hood) and better rubber.

Anyway, just got a delivery by courier late yesterday from AMG. I am registered for their academy event in Brno in October and in a brief letter they sent they said that they would keep a SLS open for me at the event even though I choose the use of your car option for the event. This should be fun. They also included a nice t-shirt and fleece jacket (pics attached). Seems they do appreciate our brand loyality afterall.

Cool, thanks for sharing the positive exchange. Good to see they can be responsive to honest feedback and an expression of gratitude. The apparel gifts are a nice classy touch as well. Enjoy the SLS. Hope I can catch the event for the ice lake in Arjeplog, Sweden; if I'm not too late.

Yes I was surprised by their response to the say the least. I had expected some form letter 2-3 months later. I am sure you can still get into the event at Arjeplog. Send email to Sabrina Strobl at amg-driving-academy@zet-project.de and I am sure she can help you out. Tel.: +49 7144 302-575

Does anyone know if they offer the "drive your own car option" at the Academy events held in the US?

There is not option like this at US events. I assume that this is due to liability issues/legal requirements. I have attached the Euro brochure (I think as I needed to create 4 seperate docs to meet attachment size requirements) or you can look here - http://www.mercedes-amg.com/driving-...basic1&sub=amg

European events have some great tracks and more options.

If you wrote MB USA then that is what to be expected. I have bought my cars through MBUSA as they are cheaper in the US, but have always found them to be arrogant and a pain to deal with. My experience with MB in Europe has been very different. They are much more down to earth and seem to realize the value of a customer. I would write the PR department of AMG in Germany and see what response you get...that is what I did.

Send them email to press@mbusa.com or call them at 1-888-MBNEWS-1 if you want to deal with US.

I would however go direct to the bosses in Germany to the following people:

Pietro Zollino, Product Communication,
Tel.: +49 711 17-75855, email: pietro.zollino@daimler.com

Johannes Riegsinger, Public Relations Mercedes-AMG,
Tel.: +49 7144 302-581, email: johannes.riegsinger@daimler.com

Hope this helps.

Wouldn't hold your breath on the vented-hood. That been said the AMG rep did mention they were looking at bringing a DTM version of C63 out very much like the BS models. Still in the works he said, but would have somewhere around 520 or so at crank and a ton of body work, lowered, special light-weigh rims, CF etc etc....BUT seems they will only make it for Europe/world as they are not sure about EPA and US cert of car. He said he would give me more details at the AMG event in Oct.
