Winter dilemma any suggestions would be great

Hey guys, just hoping to steal as much info as possible from amg owners and c63 cherrishers. So unfortunately im still waiting for my 2011 c63 predicted date is mid to late October which kinda sucks.

Big dilemma im facing is living where i live in Canada, the amount of snow we recieve is just crap, sometimes 3-4 ft, icy roads just flat out crap, and all this kinda begins Octoberish - November. Which means, i get the car, drive around maybe tops a month, month and a half and i have to park it.

So my question, is some of the things i can do, to make sure the car doesnt go all "Stale" on me hahaha, sorry for the lack of terms. Cause obviously from what im reading in these forums the more u drive this car the more it performs, so wat kinda happens when u drive it for such a short period, and then it goes into hibernation mode.

So please if anyone has gone thru this or has any suggestions id love to hear them, and thanx for any kind of comments.

Ideally i should should just move to Cali hahaha, seams down there, theres plenty of C63 owners and plenty of places to hit up to get parts, and tunes, and mods hahaha

Don't worry too much about the winter... just enjoy the car this fall & park it once the snow comes down. It's better to have your car sit in your garage rather than your dealership backyard.

I parked my other cars every winter... all I do is an oil change before storage (or after) & start the engine once in a while & warm up to let the fluid circulate in the engine.

That is true, i kinda figured i wouldve needed to start and run the car every now and then. Did u end up buying any kind of fuel stabilizer or anything or just did the good ole jerry can fill up here and there.

I can probably guess the winters in Ottawa aren't any nicer than the ones we have here in Edmonton.

I'm not sure about the C63 'cuz this will be my first winter... but for my other cars, I make sure to top up the tank before storage... and that is plenty of fuel to warm them up all winter long.

All I do is drive the cars out of the garage, and let the engine run for few minutes. I try to do it every week or 2 weeks. It helps recharge the battery & avoid any flat spot on the tires.

Smart on the rolling out and avoiding flat spots. I wouldn't have been too overly concerned i guess, if i had the chance to drive it a little longer, its more the issue, ill only be able to drive it for such a short stretch. And then straight into the garage, but u made a good point definitely better in my garage instead of a parking lot, and also less chance of ur everday day fender bender.

Just get some winter tires and drive the car.

Problem solved.

On a side note, try to put 1000km before storage... so you can have your oil flushed for the first time. That's what Mercedes recommend for AMG new engine, it might not be necessary for some ppl opinions... but I still did it to be on the safe side. If you have LSD (performance package), you will need to drop the diff fluid at 3000km.

As for driving in winter, I would not recommend it... not becuz I don't believe in the C63 capabilities in the snow... more becuz of all the sensors the car have vs salt/snow (bad mix imo).

3 winters in a C55, 2 winters so far in the C63. Both as daily drivers in the snow without issue.

Get get 4 good snow tires and enjoy your car.

If I can add my two cents: If you do decide to drive it this winter, please ensure that you buy winter tires, and wash your car often to remove road salt, and not forget to spray the undercarriage. I've driven my E63 every winter since 2007, but are winters here in Northern Virginia are tame compared be Canada's winters. I always wait until the streets and roads are plowed, and the streets are dry. Also an important note, make sure that you have a good wax job, if you drive it this winter.
Don't forget that these are high torque cars, so be easy on the throttle, or you could end up in a ditch or worse. Oh, ESP must stay on, this is most important.

hmm...
I am about to recieve my 2011 C63 in two weeks.. I will drive all winter... (sweden)
Yes..where they wintertest almost all car-models..

Last year we had -35 degrees (well it was extremly cold) and pretty much snow.. I drove a rwd CLS 500, no problem.. just be careful..

I will never put my C63 away because of some snow.. traction control and LSD will probably make me through the winter

Btw. my winter-tires was ordered several months ago.. I go with Dunlop Wintersport 3D, same I had on my old Audi A5 ..and almost the only ones in 19" ..

I use my C63 here in Europe during the winter with no issues at all. The weather here is similar to Southern Ontario (I grew up there) and you should have no issues at all except on the worst of days when you would not drive if possible. As other posters said, get a good set of winter tires and remember you are in RWD with alot of power so take it easy. One thing is make sure that the road you are on don't have huge center build-up as the front lip will sometimes hit this. Mainly happens on side-roads. I assume that they still salt the crap out of the roads in Ontario when it snows or ices up so wash it after running in those wet-days to wash away salt. On really cold days here (-30) I will start the car and let it run for a awhile. Have had no issues with battery drain. Is the C63 like a S4...no...but it is perfectly good in winter if you use common sense.

Thanks a lot guys, from a lot of the post and other threads i have looked thru, i at least feel a lot more confident about this car in the winter. I mainly wanted to park it for the winter cause this is my first real big expensive car purchase, and i wanted to baby it and not expose it to the harsh conditions of salt, grime, snow, and most importantly inexperienced tailgating winter newbies.

But i definitely appreciate all the suggestions, and tips on tires, that i will have to start shopping for right about now, man nothing comes cheap on this car hahahaha, but im sure, once i step on the gas for the first time ripping outta that dealership dollar figures aren't even gonna be a concern hahaha.

Looks like this.

Rim Specs: +45 offset works perfectly for this rim Bremen Mercedes Replica 18x8.0
Tire Specs: Hankook Icebear W300 235/40R18

Did you make sure to check that all your wheel weights clear the front brakes? haha, I had to get mine rebalanced.

Why did you go with W300 over the LM-60?

Yes I did. I specifically told Gary to look for this problem. Everything clears just enough. The clearance is about a width of a quarter from brake to rim . See picture below.

A few reasons why I chose W300
1) Price
2) Rage said so
3) LM-60 does not make a 235/40R18 (willing to sacrifice a little performance to a wider looking tire b/c it is not my dd in the winter)
4) Had Blizzak's when they first came out and they wore down pretty fast.

Ok, so as the winter draws closer i was gonna ask you if the C63 is drivable in the winter with 19´s, or is it too much? It's not exactly an SUV..
