Pre-Paid Maintenance

Thinking about getting this.

Service A is about $250.

How is a service B and C?

I'm going Friday for the B, and I'm told it's going to be almost 500.

We charge $300 plus tax for the Service B, and $200 for the service A.

Service C would depend on what the cluster is requesting.

Is it worth it? Isn't it just oil changes and maintenance reminder resets?

And by cluster.. I am guessing you mean customer.. or are you referring to the customer as a "cluster" short for "Cluster F..k"

I paid 1400 for the prepaid maintenance up to service C (3yr, 30k). At the time I was considering getting the car I priced out the individual services with a dealer and it seemed worth it, but having just gotten a service A and really seeing what they did, I'm not so sure. 4yr maintenance I was quoted Maintenance 4yr/ 2979 by the finance manager when buying my car.

Just found my notes from that time:

3yr/30k 1399
c63
1/10k 375
2/20k 795
3/30k 450

c300
10k 300
20k 450
30k 400

$769 is a good deal for 3 years.

my dealership was charging $999 for the 3 year plan and like $2050 for the 4 year one. that was 2 months ago. i had calculated all the costs of the services that i had received previously and it did save a little bit. they said the prices were non-negotiable but i was able to negotiate and get a little better deal for the 4 year plan. the service at 40000 mile costs a lot.

and fyi, before i purchased the plan i asked whether it included the differential fluid change because now i had LSD. he got back to me and told me it did indeed include it so i was happy with that and purchased the plan.

i took my car in at about 1000 miles to get an oil change and also get the mandatory differential fluid change and they ended up charging me for it. i went through hell trying to tell them that i was told it was included and they were telling me it wasn't. i told them that i was told it was and that was part of the reason i purchased the plan. after some more checking from their side, they said the best they can do is refund my money for the maintenance plan. at that point i was just upset and told them fine and i'll come in and get it done. I then get a call later informing me that the differential fluid change is actually included in the maintenance plan for AMG cars. i'm like... ok that's great... and they sent me a refund check for the service that i paid for.

For all three services, that is a very good deal, I wish I knew, though I am not sure if it is available in Canada...I just paid close to $500 for the Service B.

No i mean by the actual cluster, when you need a service C you will need to go into the instrument cluster and see what other services the vehicle is requesting. We would never call a customer a "cluster" :P

Just got service A for $99. It pays to be in a big market with several competing dealers!

My car has almost 31K on the odometer. My dealer Presitige MB in Paramus charged me little more then $200 for Service A and about close to $300 for Service B. I'm sure if you need brake pads or rotors, this package doesn't include the replacement of them.

Jae,

I looked into this for my C63 and there is some negotiation room at the prices quoted. Question them very closely on exactly what is covered, as I never was able to get some answers on at the the AMG pieces....

i'm bringing back an old thread but i had to add to what i had written before which is why i'm quoting myself.

part of the "hell" i went through to get them to agree to my original price was emailing the guy i had got the original deal with and getting no responses... i called him several times and left messages... i heard that he was on vacation and wouldn't be back in the office until next week or something...

even the day i brought the car in for service, they said he wasn't in yet and couldn't get a hold of him to talk to him directly.

i ended up paying for the differential service and then leaving... i got a call back later with their best offer which was a refund... which of course i said fine, i'll take my money back and get my services done elsewhere... and i also asked what happened with the guy i talked to, were they not able to get a hold of him... and i was told that he was let go... i'm like.. wtf... what are the chances...

anyway... the point to all this is, i SAW the guy at the dealership the last time i was there... he was at a different desk on a phone call... i knew it was him... so wtf is that about... he didn't get fired, he didn't quit... he was still working there... idk if he actually did get let go and got rehired... but something about seeing him there rubbed me the wrong way...

What exactly is involved in a Service A?? If it's just an oil change F*&$ paying $200 for just an oil change. I have 7 quarts Mobil1 0-40 I bought and I can buy a few more and a filter.....

Is that all they do??

pretty much its just an oil/filter change and inspection. if you dont mind not having the inspection you can do it yourself. i took mine to an independent shop where the owner is a retired MB tech. he did everything for about half the dealer price. before i left i was asking him typical brake life and cost of brakes yadda yadda yadda.... and he said, "Look... i can do what MB recommends and get deep in your pocket or i can keep her in tip top shape and on the road. you just drive it and let me service it. its your choice on how much its going to cost ya." i thought that was funny and had a lot of truth to it.

Dealer service a total ripoff. I just did the service B-oil change, fluid check. Everything else is good. BTW I don't wait until it hits 10k miles for oil change. I do it 7k miles with Mobil 1.
