Replacing Key's battery

Never had these keys before (for 2010 C63), do I have to go to a MB Service station or can I just go to Radio Shack or something and buy a new battery?

It's in the manual, but I think you should go to your dealership.

I don't see why you would need batteries already since they usually last 2-5 years depending on the usage. I change batteries out probably 10x a day for customers it's less than $20 so no big deal. Radio shack won't change them for you

You would go to Radio Shack or any other convenience store to purchase these batteries. They are CR2025, I had to replace mine the other day for my 07 E63. Your car manual will show you how to open it, and it takes just one battery. But if you can't open it, take it to your local MB dealer, they can open the key up for you. But you shouldn't need to change your battery this soon. I use Keyless Go all the time, but it's too soon to be changing batteries already. But I have had batteries last for 2 years before. But I maybe wrong, it all depends on how much your using them.

Yeah, it seems super soon in my opinion too. I mean, I drive my car a normal amount of times per day, so I dont know why in the 3 months I have had it the key needs to be replaced. It hasnt died, but I get a message on my cluster that it needs to be replaced. Bringing it in to MB Service to get swapped.

My sales guy said if you place your keys close enough to the car that it detects it it will draw the batteries down. He said the batteries in the keys hanging on the wall in the dealership needs to replaced every few months because of this.

That statement does have some truth to it.

My keys are in my apartment and my car is in a underground garage, so unless I am in the car, the keys arent near it

I just had them replaced 1 month ago and my dash says ' change key batteries ' again

Anyone know if this is battery fault or probably some sensor on the car
