That's why I hate when someone touches my keys - they have no idea what a powerful RWD car is capable of.

Wow, Bill Knobloch of Discovery Automotive sounds like a real scum bag...too many of these moronic cowboy tuning companies out there, owners beware...

I can't believe the tuner/driver/idiot feels the owner is responsible for the damage!

Did you notice how he neglected to explain for the fact that he submitted a personal injury claim against the guys insurance carrier?

1st - He ruin his car.
2nd - He give him the run around.
3rd - He file a personal injury claim against his carrier
4th - Lastly, he writes a story about how he is the victim.

The tuner needs to face reality. It's not a valid excuse that he didn't carry an insurance policy large enough to absorb this kind of claim. That's his responsibility as a tuner if he wants to drive fast and expensive cars.

He is still liable to the car's owner even though he isn't covered by insurance.

And I can't think of a valid claim against the car's owner or the owner's insurance company unless some part of the car failed and caused or contributed to the accident.

Sounds like some hard driving gone bad. The tuner is very fortunate to be alive and essentially unscathed from the accident but he should really own up to his mistake, if he was truly at fault.

does anyone truly believe you can fly out of control that badly going 65 mph ? He had to be speeding to some extent... I feel so bad for the owner, he will forever have this bitter taste in his mouth when dealing with tuners.

Read some of "shadowman"'s posts on this. This is the normal level of "she runs well" or similar that we all occasionally throw out there.

speed was most likely a factor but probably not paying attention to the road infront of him instead of looking at/monitoring the boost on the passenger seat was a bigger one...yes folks he was monitoring the boost from a laptop i believe that was located on the passenger seat

If that's the case - why wouldnt they just pull the motor and throw it on a dyno???
That's what my buddy who has an FGT did when he put a Whipple on it.

probably too much work for the old geezer to pull the motor out and dyno tune it...plus i think the customer needed the car for some rally, so he just took it for a "testdrive" to see if he had figured out the boost problem

Actually some of the accounts by the driver listed the rear right tire as blown, which he attributed to causing the accident. But I would expect that to be blown after flying into a tree

Unfortunately we won't ever know.

Yeah, it seems pretty coincidental that the tire blows right in the area known as the local "drag strip" and while he's testing boost. Sure, it could happen like that.

But, like you said, it was probably due to flying into a tree sdrawkcab.

You people are all crazy! CLEARLY he was only driving 35 miles an hour with a blown tire ALL the way up to the highway without noticing, the car lost control (NOT Bill...THE CAR) and a tree ran up and hit him. ITS SO OBVIOUS! All a big co-incidence, it could happen to anyone!.......right?

WHAT A DOUCHE BAG!

Just read through the whole story, and all i can say is WOW (..and a little bit of an opinion of course...)

Very irresponsible on the tuner's part, public roads are not meant to test a car's performance, especially at night. Period. Car's don't magically get out of control. From the pics, the rear tires don't look blown. It's a shame he's trying to come out as an innocent victim. Hope all works out for the owner.
