Carbon fiber

I wonder if the factory carbon fiber trim is made the same way or it is a real solid carbon fiber?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rTWaV1imzs

In either case, I think it is so freakin overpriced...

Looks like you can do everything yourself for like $50

The factory trim is REAL carbon fiber....that video is carbon fiber vinyl. VERY different. The film doesn't have any real depth to it like true carbon fiber.

That video from youtube is not vinyl. It is real CF. I have bought from that company and attempted to do it myself. That is called layering of CF wrapping. It's the "easy" way to CF. You lay the fiber over the part with some resin and hardener. The reason you pay all that money for real Cf is because they make a mold out of the part first and then make the whole part out of only CF.

PS: For those of you thinking of trying, it's not as easy as it looks in that video.

What is vinyl? It is still a wrap, not a real CF...

Vinyl is the material on the other threads you posted . It can be removed. Yes factory OEM CF parts are completely made out of CF.

This video is from the same company making a part from a mold.

Looks like I watched the wrong one...that is pretty tight though. And OP that seems like a lot of work but would be a very fun project!
