Iphone Int & Nav Update
OK so I am trying to wonder how is it possible that I can Play songs on my C63 from my Ipod but can't charge or play tracks on iphone as it displays something like (accesory not supported). However, on my S/ML550 it charges and plays everything on my iphone. Also it seems that the newer Navigation models seem much smoother w/ updated features such as being able to input information while driving. Now my question is, should the stealership do this update for free or under warranty on my C63 if I demand it for both the Navi and the Iphone support or do I have to pay for something that should be completely included in the warranty. If anyone can chime in I'd appreciate it.

I was able to go to my dealer and they changed the cable for me for N/C. The new cable will charge your latest iphone and not give you that error. They were even nice enough to reroute it to my ash tray as I was explaining to them it makes no sense that it is so far from the drivers side. They also could have put it in the center compartment if you do not want it in the view of everyone.
You can control your ipod/iphone thru your buttons on your steering wheel (phone buttons, check the manual).
As far as getting anything more i.e. the new updated module that gives you what we should have gotten from the start i.e. viewing the music thru the center screen and control with center knob, they will simply not do it and it will cost you about $2,500. Not worth it in my opinion.

I have not looked into it, apparently if you have the US Spec 2010 c63, with option 518 (ipod integration kit), you should be able to install the media interface plus. There is some speculation that you could possibly get it in the 2009, but possibly not.

Mercedes realy needs to step it up on technology for the entertainment systems. Take a look at the SYNC from Ford, miles ahead of Mercedes.

I read the thread and the links but can someone actually confirm that this $300 piece will interface and allow you to view your music thru the center screen and allow you to control the ipod/iphone with the center knob.
If so, then it is a reasonable upgrade and brings us to par with the other systems out there.
How big is this piece?
I had my cable rerouted to my ashtray since it was cumbersome to have to plug my phone in the glovebox everytime.

The media Interface Plus (MIP) is bigger then an iPhone, and thicker. It's best to put it on the glove box or center console. Trust me, it's not a small item. I can control my iPhone from the COMAND or center dash diplay. And Pandora works very well with it. Here are a few pictures, that I just ran down to the car to take. All these photos were taken with the bluetooth enabled, as I don't have any music stored on my iPhone.

You can actually go to the following page on the MBUSA for update software and instructions. I have the MIP in a 2010 C207 550 and it works well. I can't, however, get the software update to load even though i followed the instructions. I updated the bootloader but not the software. I sent an email to MBUSA and am waiting to hear from them. http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/servic...ts/accessories

Do you have to plug the iphone in this thing or can it access it via bluetooth.
It seems to have access to the playlist and the same menu as on the ipod so that looks pretty sharp for a couple of hundred buckaroos.

Since I know people at Mercedes, I got it employee cost which was $225. There is no istallation cost, as you hook it up yourself. It's so easy, a cave man could do it.

ok i need some help here. not trying to highjack... i called the dealer and my vin does NOT have the 518 option code. it does have multi media pack and iphone option. they say i might work but they have limited dealings with this so far. does anyone know for sure that this will work on my 09 C63 considering it has the media package.

Not a problem, I just installed the software and it works fine. Although, I haven't recieved any emails to test it or text messages. But I will test this, trust me.

This MIP feature should be a FREE update to anyone who bought their car with the multimedia/Ipod package honestly. This is simply one of the things that **** me off about Mercedes specially when it's an AMG model. Anyways I just found out that the command NAV DVD update is $250.00. I honestly had to laugh at the price when the guy told me. Anyone knows where I can get ahold of this command update? If anyone has it, maybe I can pay him/her + shipping and then return it! Thanks

What's even worse is that I installed the new software update, but now i can't seem to get the car to display emails. The bluetooth is connected, I can stream audio via the bluetooth, but email is a whole different ball game. Haven't tried texting yet.

I am still in shock as well that MB wants money to update the SAT/NAV.
If anyone has it, I am willing as well to pay him a small fee to use his update CDs

I've done some digging around, and got some information from Mercedes themselves. Currently only Blackberry phones running OS6 with MAP (Messaging Access Profile) support the email/texting functionality. MAP has thus far not been implemented by any other manufacturer including iPhone, but will become industry standard in the near future. 
Mercedes use to be a industry leader but now Ford has a better system "SYNC"
