C63 Lap around big track @ willow springs 1-29-11
Instructors drove in the video.
I believe I had the only c63 there today. Very intimidating with all the beastly benzes & other furocious cars chasing me. (my first track day)
Anyway, first track day was FUN! Plenty of track time. Very scary turn 5 and 9. Learned a lot. Thanks EvoSport.

Also, the 255 rear tires were just..

Nice pics!! Sorry we didn't get to meet....It was indeed a fun day. And yeah, 7 and 8 can get a little hairy at 120mph especially when Brad was in your car and decided to dive down under me!!!! Anyway, glad you had fun...Willow is a great track and pretty easy to learn - I'm sure by the end of the day your lines had improved alot

Nice pics & video, glad to hear you had fun on your first time at the track. I was very nervous too when I first when on the track, but it was so much fun at the end of the day.

Thanks for sharing the pics and video. Lapping is a lot of fun and knowing what a mistake can cost only adds to the adrenalin rush. MB Driver Academy at Mont Tremblant last fall was a lot of fun by the end of the day. Hats off to you guys that lap your own cars.

Yeah. Judging by the rims, it's this one - R63 AMG by EvoSport:

Nice! How did it handle? Can you tell us what suspension/tires/brakes you were using? I'm debating whether or not I should jump ship from BMW to Merc...

Thanks in advance

None fast enough!
Thanks Bon! Was fun.

And it is always awesome when you hand me the car and say "these are my friends, they are spectators, be sure to show them a good time" LOL!

The car felt great. Maybe a bit stiff in the rear for that track, but really nice otherwise!

Glad you had a good time and will look forward to seeing you at the next one!

Here is a vid of me in a student's e92 M3 (a customer I am coaching to go racing this year): e92 M3 at willow

thanks
Brad

I am pretty qualified to give a reply. I have raced M3's since 2000 and have done many a tuner shoot out in AMG's.

Brakes - AMG ALWAYS is better than BMW - this is the weakest point with the BMW chassis stock
Chassis - The modern chassis are all very good
Suspension - The BMW is better stock, but the AMG is NOT far off, and if you consider CLK63 BS, it is far better than an M3
Transmission - BMW all the way

Overall, you can have a very fun and rewarding track/canyon car with either make these days.

hope this helps.

Thanks
brad

Thanks for the reply Brad. I'm having a hard time deciding on an E90M or W204 C63, both totally different animals. I must have some seat time in both to make my choice. It also looks like the C63's aftermarket isn't as large as the M3, (good thing so I don't have to spend $ on modding).

Actually there is a LOT more you can do to the C63 than the e9x M3. The M3 doesn't need many mods. However, the e9x is really heavy and not a very good "upgrade" from the e46 (I still drive an e46 daily too - e46 M3 Cab). I would personally go with a C63 over the M3. Or if you really want a fun BMW - the new 1M coming out.

Thanks
brad

The R63 handled pretty well for a 5000 lb beast on the track, and was able to get it up to about 120 on the straight, but nothing compared to the black series of M3's of the bunch.

Hey Brad,

I thought it over... I may end up with a C63 or E63 for a daily driver and build up an E30 with S50 swap just for my track days...
I got into tracking 2 years ago, boy is it addicting!
