Just bought used C63 have some questions...
Hey guys, just bought a used C63 in great shape with only 13k miles. Several issues that i was needing help with. The car does have the p30 pkg on it. Everything is going great. I just have 2 minor issues.
1. Making a hard turn in reverse is producing a popping noise like i have a flat. like it is rubbing he interior fender wall. Anyone else experience this?
2. I am hearing a VERY light noise at slow speeds. almost like a wheel bearing is out. Call my service guy at mercedes and he told me a wheels might be slightly bent. Any of you have this problem? The thing is there is absolutly NO vibration in the steering wheel at any speed.
Thanks for any help.

issue with #1 is PROBABLY what a few of us have noticed. IF you have summer tires on the front.... you are probably experiencing the front tires freezing and slipping when turned. i assume you are having cold weather in texas due to this crazy storm. the problem with summer only tires are the freeze and handle like they are solid plastic. when you turn they loose grip and basically hop or slide some which produces this odd sound.
i cant help you on #2. i doubt your wheels are bent however. take her in.

im moving to ulta performance ALL SEASONS on the front when they die. i just drive in cold weather 5 months out of the year and i dont really need all the grip that the Pzeros provide. you guys might want to consider doing the same. i dont see how the summer only tires can be safe if we are running them in freezing weather.

+1 Tire noise can sound like worn wheel bearings at low speeds. (wum wum wum) What kind of tires do you have on the rear?

+1 some tires especially wide low profile can mimick quite well a bearing problem. had that on two other cars in the past.

is the noise coming from one corner or side in particular. If so, if you have a jack and the means to do so you could try changing your potentially offending wheel left to right. not front to back because the wheels are different.
If the noise switches side then you know the bearing is ok and it is most likely the thread of the tire that is worn unevenly.

I spoke too soon, it looks my michelin pilots make a similar noise. Almost a clunk when I initially put the car in reverse from a cold start. It used to occur when I'd cut the wheel and reverse it happened yesterday just in Reverse...
