want to take my car to the drag strip
the next day was import face off in dallas... i went with my gf and they also did test and tune runs in between, i was only able to make 3 runs... but the time slips were a little disappointing... i was running 12.2 and 12.3... but the weather was quite warm too...
when i check the DA today, it showed as 2389 compared to the 960ish the first time i went last month... i didn't realize it made that big of a difference...
here are my times in order... my best time on the slips was my first run
12.242 @ 116.32 DA corrected 11.899 @ 119.757
12.392 @ 116.66 DA corrected 12.044 @ 120.107
12.266 @ 117.55 DA corrected 11.922 @ 121.023
if i went by DA corrected, i ran a personal best... but it looks so much better on paper damn it
Another a little tip for the next time, pop your hood and place two bags of ice on the intake in between runs. It will help bring under hood temps down quicker.

What were your 60's for the three runs? I'm curious to see how the street tires did.
i did all 3 runs in TC off... although i wanted to take petro's suggestion of trying out TC in sport mode, i figured i wouldn't be able to make enough runs to troubleshoot which i didn't...
and i only did a short burn out on my first run... went around the water the 2nd run and did a really short one just to get stuff off... and the 3rd i went through the water and did another short burn out...
i don't know if my new tires needed to be broken in but i had put about 200 miles on them before going to the track...

I think 200 miles on new tires is just right for being broken in.
my best 60' time that time was actually my 2nd best run of that night
60' 1.977
12.073 @ 117.11
so i guess the new tires are a little better after all... i think if i were able to make some more runs, i would be more consistently in the 1.9s
anyway... the other interesting thing i found was when i compared the slips from my best before and my best from this time... they seem so similar in spots yet so different
last months best
60 1.995
330 5.250
1/8 7.893 @ 92.71
1000 10.163
1/4 12.072 @ 117.74
this month
60 1.921
330 5.250
1/8 7.951 @ 92.70
1000 10.275
1/4 12.242 @ 116.32
These two runs are an example of when the 60' is lower in one run compared to another run with a higher 60', but the car has a slower 1/8th and 1/4 ET compared to that run. So, here, the slower 60' equated to a higher trap, which is often the case on street tires.

Track prep, tires, DA all play a key roll.
Bluejae, with a good set of DR's you would definatley 60' in the 1.7's which would drop your overall et significantly.

while visiting my friend in SA, we decided to go to san antonio raceway test and tune and made some runs... we had a great time and i ran my personal best.
a pretty good mix of cars... but i think i was the only benz there... my friend ran his m5, later a 335 showed up, supercharged g8, some gtos, gt500 mustang, z06, trans am, drag bikes, gtr, and someone brought a brand new jeep grand cherokee srt8 with paper plates...
i've decided i won't invest in DRs or anything like that... i'm happy with my times on my street setup... since that's where the majority of my driving is done... i'm sure with DRs and a little practice i can make much better times... just by seeing what others have done on DRs, i can already get a sense of what my car may be able to do... although not exact of course
now if i can get my hands on a vbox, i'd love to do some 60-130 runs and see how i do there...
what i found interesting though was my trap speed is fairly high compared to the times on the 1/4 list
but here is my question... is burning out in DRs basically the same concept? do a short burn until you see smoke?
from what petro said, it's hard to redline doing a burnout... but i think if i step on it, it will definitely bounce off the rev limiter... idk if it's because i'm on street tires... but i can easily get that flash of warning red telling me i'm close... so i have to ease off a bit and find a steady spot around 6000rpm and hold it there and then ease off the brakes...
also, with my foot on the brake, the car will not move forward until i let off the brakes...
i was doing fairly short burn outs earlier... these are the longer burn outs i tried before leaving the track... ended up getting my best time and mph so far
DA +459
any additional tips or advice would be appreicated

oh... and i forgot to mention... something weird happened on my last run... in the 2nd vid at about 31 second mark, my car did a shake and bake... i don't know what to call it... the run felt identical to the previous run which is the 1st vid, but there was a little hiccup for some reason... i don't know what it could have been... when that happened, i figured that run was going to be in the 12s... but it was nearly identical... any ideas what could have happened?
tire spin during shift from 1-2???

Also a good tip would be to drive around the water box and back up into it. This will keep your front tires dry and stop your rear tires from rolling over the wet spots left by your fronts.
also, i would probably drive on them 40 miles to the track and 40 miles back... would raising the tire pressure to stock specs be fine?
and yes, that's what i was going to do. thanks for the tip
