Changing the oil on these cars is not difficult.
Even having a dry sump system doesnt make changing oil that much harder then a wet sump.

Oil service (Service A) for $160 is out freakin standing, I wish that they offered prices that cheap in Northern Virginia. Mercedes just doesn't change the oil, for $160; there's inspections, lights, suspension, wipers, belts and hoses included in the pricing. Then they reset the cars service computer to 1 year or 10000 miles when the next service is due. But changing your own oil in a C63, is just like changing the oil in any other car.

I have the paper printout with the instructions on how to reset the service indicators, but I would be hesitant to just post them here, when I get home and find it, I will PM you. It is not reversible, ie, you reset it and it logs it and restarts the counters (distance/time), in the event something goes wrong with your car and they refuse to warranty your vehicle because you reset it yourself, I do not want to be responsible.
That said, keep a maintenance log, be detailed, and know what your doing. Someone posted a list of things for service B recently (which I am coming up on), the only thing I cannot do is upgrade the command/run star diag on it, everything else, I have already done, new cabin filter, new oil filter/changed oil, checked all the belts and linkages that I can see, and they are in good shape (which I logged and noted). I'm probably going to replace the air filters in the next few weeks as well... but $600 for a glorified oil change is rediculous.

Btw, I got my last oil change for the price of nine quarts of 0w-40 Mobil (I purchased them at Napa Autoparts) + the cost of an oil filter and performance of the job, which was $45.00 total. I got the oil changed at a MB mechanic (non-dealer) but the dealer would have done the same thing for me for about the same price.
From now on, I will do it myself. I plan on using Superlubricity's DIY thread.

What the Techs at the dealership typically do, is plug in the Star Diagnositc Computer and read the data streaming from the car. That why they know how many hours to charge you for the service. They can take a look at your odemeter and pretty much know what the car needs. In a simple Service "A" you change the oil, and do an inspection of the whole car. Service "B" is the same thing but with a air filet change. As far as other things like brake fluid, engine coolant, trans flush, that car tells them this. But if you know, what your car needs per its mile, then you are ahead of the game. A brake flush is recommended every 2 yrs. Engine coolant is every 4 years. I keep a spreadsheet on my car for any service that, I performed or the dealership, and I always note the mileage. If I add oil, or windshiled wiper fluid it is noted. I'm **** like that.....LOL Oh, and I keep all reciepts, just in case.

You perform the work
log it on the maintenance check sheet.
MB has to honor the warranty as long as you show the work was performed.
All the required services and intervals are in the MB maint book.
That is also posted online.
