Carbon Airbox: Gruppe M and RennTech
Hi all,
New member here. Just picked up my C63 Performance Pack Plus (P31). Its a UK spec car. I've owned it for less than a week and already am thinking about some mods. I blame this forum.
I've been doing some searches on carbon airbox and found there are 2 types. One is the Gruppe M-type which seems to replace the front part. The second is RennTech which replaces the back part. Is this correct?
If so, can both types of airboxes be used together? Or is it one or the other type thing?
Also if it can both be used together, has anyone done this? What type of gains can be expected?
And do the pattern of the carbon fiber match?
Thanks.

I thought we already established that a tune on a P31 car is useless? Or are you referring to new long tubes in which case I totally agree :-)

You can put both on the same time! It will work great together. I no renntech is working on a groupe m style piece also. Ask dadsc63 I think he has some knowledge about those renntech products! But for the price there are much better options for performance! But if your looking for 2 extremlly overpriced pieces of carbon fiber you are exactly right . But they do work!

What I wanted to know is if both can be put on together. It seems interesting that Gruppe M felt that the front part was restrictive and so designed a larger air "scoop". Whereas RennTech thought the front was ok so they redesigned the back part.
If both can be used together, then the improvement to the air intake should be amazing. I understand that it is very pricey. But that's due to the carbon fiber. If someone were to make both parts in FRP, then the price would be much less for potentially big power increases.
Just my thoughts.

i've just installed the RT CF airbox over the weekend and i can feel the difference in sound and response in the bottom end of the acceleration.. haven't had the chance to go full throttle yet.. love it!
now what would be interesting is the front intake from RT!
