Smoke???
This morning, I started my P31 and expected the great cold start. Instead I got a huge puff of white smoke. The beast started shaking like crazy. After a few seconds I turned it off trying not to damage it. I haven't tried to restart the car and obviously will get it towed to the dealership. My car has ran perfect since day one and only has 9k miles. All service has been done and oil level is perfect. Anyone else experienced this or know what the issue could be? Thanks guys.

This has never happened and i have had the car for a year. The smoke filled the garage and the motor felt like it was
not firing on all cylinders, almost like an old car with distributor issues. Not sure how this is normal.

I always get a little smoke when my car fires up, but it has never filled the entire garage![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I'm assuming you know your car and know what's normal engine vibration.
If it's as bad as you describe, there may be something wrong.
Did any lights come on on the dash?
Sounds like possibly bad gas?![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Maybe they've starting to water the stuff down now that it's gettin close to $4![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

White smoke is not really normal, it indicates that water is getting into your combustion chamber. Blue smoke would be related to oil (and is easily confused with white smoke) and a small puff on start up would not be very worrisome. Black smoke indicates that the car is running rich.
If your car is running rough, not firing on all cylinders and has white smoke pouring from the exhaust there is a problem!!!

Sounds exactly like the experience I had with my previous CLS63. Heading home from work I suddenly lost power, had thick white smoke coming from the exhaust and several cylinders started mis firing which caused the car to shake and stutter.
It turned out that one (or more) of the gasoline injectors mal functioned causing excess gasoline to enter the cylinder chambers and thus producing the white smoke and mis firing. I had them replaced and the car ran fine again.
The tech couldn't exactly explain how this could happen but mentioned that poor quality gasoline might have damaged the injectors.
In any case be careful. My tech found a lot of un burned fuel in my exhaust which according to him could've caused a fire.
I strongly suggest having your car transported directly to the dealer.

Sorry to hijack here, but I've noticed that my car does not product a lot of smoke at all.. Sometimes I'll start my car next to a friend's car (Jeep SRT8 if it matters) and notice smoke coming out from his car while mine looks like it's off. Especially in the cold fall/winter/pre-spring months I would think I should see some.. Maybe my C63 is ecofriendly, lol.
