Future buyer (August 2011) questions - C63 AMG coupe, is it the right choice?
I haven't test driven the previous C63 AMG (pre-facelift models), but from what I've come to understand from this forum, it's one heck of a beast! Would definitely love to, once the coupe's out in July!
Just a couple of things about myself. I'm living in Melbourne (with the occasional holidays in Malaysia, but I MIGHT be moving back there for work purposes). No racing experience, but I did track my friend's C200K (W204) a year ago in the F1 circuit in Malaysia (isn't he amazing? ) It was a blast, except for the fact that it lacked...power... I am a huge car enthusiast, i.e. I LOVE GOING FAST.
So, the C63 AMG coupe vs the M3 coupe vs the RS5. It's a German vehicle integrity/"solid-feel" thing, hence I didn't include neither the IS-F nor the CTS-V. What are your thoughts?
The car will usually be used as a D.D. with the occasional yearly (if not twice per year) track event. Snow/ice is not an issue in either country (I live in and drive within the limits of the CBD). What are their differences in terms of performance on daily roads (not track, lol, most M3 drivers seem to think they live next to a circuit ) What about the "driver's feel" of each car? And what are your overall experience with each cars?
This is an open debate, feel free to criticize my opinions! I'm uncertain about which car's the right car for me.

You tube the hell out of C63 and you will find just about every comparison that you can think of. The M3 is tough to beat because most of the tests are on the track. But for everyday use, we are not on a track. The C63 is still a good track competitor and is a beast on the streets. The C63 has its quirks though: smallish rear tires, a transmission thats a little temperamental in my opinion sometimes, the COMMAND center could use some improvement, and its heavy with horrid gas mileage.
The after market for the C63 is pretty strong and this forum is very helpful for all your C63 questions.
But, with all the pros and cons, just put your foot to the floor and all your concerns will disappear the torque is awesome.

To date I still think the M3 is a sexier car. The lines of that car is just plain amazing. However when I started that 6.2 V8 at the dealership I started smiling like a kid with his 1st bike. I floored it with the windows open -- the crazy torque and the loud exhaust just sealed the deal for me.

2010 C63 AMG P31
Came from a C180K back home to a C63 AMG and let me tell you that even though the interior might look similar.. it is a completely different car. You won't regret it!

Hey guys, thanks for your replies!
DuaneC63: Nah, I want a new car, and even though the CLK Black is an awesome ride (as told by Jeremy Clarkson), it's still an old car in terms of looks.
CELLryu: So smallish rear tires huh? Heard Renntech came up with a solution for that, the C74 Konzept. So with larger tires (and the optional LSD) would you say that the car will perform better on corners? i.e. better lap times and well, being more M3-like? I'm not expecting it to perform as good as, say a GTR. Afterall, it's a family sedan with two doors, not a purposeful coupe with 2 extra seats
Everyone else: POWERRRRRRRRRR! Honestly though, the reason I'm leaning towards the C63 is because of its interior, the "one man one engine" pedigree, THE POWER AND THE NOISE! Never liked BMW's, too many ricers have it where I live, and the interior is just plain boring! However, I do wish the C63 could perform better on twisties, cause you just wanna spank those Beemers! Audi's a bit too low key IMO.
So am I right in saying that the M3 is a better track car, but on open roads, highways, windy roads, the C63 is "better"? What about the RS5?

My first test drive we started it up inside the dealerships enclosed garage where the cars are stored.
That first 10 seconds after the cold start the sound echoed through the garage and was such sweet music to my ears.
You had me at hello.
August is just around the corner.

Ghost. God bless you for buying a new C63. It gives cheap SOB's like myself the opportunity to buy used ones. Best of luck. You'll love it.

2009 C63 AMG (APX, MPX), 2006 Jetta 2.0T (Traded), 2003 Mazda 3 (Sold)
for your reference, the other day, I was at the mall picking up an iPad, I saw this guy with a pimped out 2010 M3 with carbon all round.
I rolled behind him and we parked at the same time. He stood outside my car, saying "I like the C63 much better, I like the lines it looks more aggressive, and a much better daily drive."
I shook my head and didn't say a word.
What bothered me is that he still bought an M3 (spanking new!)
So Ghost, buy the car that moves you. Ultimately, M3 and C63 and RS5 (for that matter) is quite similar (afterall, they are designed to be in the same class to compete with each other). FLAME SUIT ALERT: SIMILAR not the SAME!
If you can buy brand new, and you think the M3 is not to your liking, I am sure you can tinkle your C63 bit to move around the bends a little better.
Likewise, if you think M3's torque is a little lacking, I am sure you can tune the crap out of the car to close to C63's performance.
More likewise, if you think the RS5 is a little boring outside, I am sure you can put a wing or some carbon kit around to spice it up.
But for me, the C63 is a classy beast, with a TON of toys included with a few options/packages. Ultimately, the C63 won over top on my list.
