NEW - Hawk DTC-70 just out for the C63

Hi guys,

I have brake pads and replacement discs on order at evosport.

Front pads were Hawk DTC-60 and rear pads Raybestos ST 43.

Brad mentioned the DTC-70 are just out now for the C63 (Hawk website not updated yet). They are supposed to be excellent for heavy and high horsepower cars so he made the switch (awesome).

Will post a full review on this pad combination after my next track event in about 2 weeks.

BTW I just can't believe that 4 new pads and 4 discs (disc only for evosport 2 piece) are 1/3 of the OEM price. What a great investment!

Take care

Did you get those pads?

I just got this response from the Hawk Motorsports manager

Howard

Thank you for your interest in Hawk Performance. I currently do not show the DTC 70 pads for the C63 AMG. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thank you

When you say, "just discs" are you suggesting no hats? In other words, do you already own a set of the Evosport rotors and you are only replacing the discs but keeping the hats from the prior set.

Seeking some advice here: As soon as I installed my Evosport rotors I began hearing a clunk when I step on the brake pedal at low speeds (parking lot speeds, driveway, garage, etc.) You can hear the clunk coming from the front wheels/rotors/pads when you lift off the brake pedal as well--again at parking lot speeds.

If you have any ideas what this can be caused from could you please offer some feedback. It's a really annoying sound. I've taken the front wheels and rotors off and put them back on like 3 times, and I can't figure out what's causing the noise.

Maybe, the bolts that hold the hat to the rotor are not torqued properly although they are pre-torqued from Evosport. I haven' checked yet, so I don't know.

Sorry for hijacking your thread. Looking forward to your results.

Chief,

Looks at what Hhughes wrote, I would personally would have my reservations on Evosports considering that the Hakw manager claims that the C63 brake pads are not available yet.

Another thing that I was going to ask you, did you place the order over the phone or directly on evosport website? I am confused, one member just posted that he is not getting e-mails or phone calls back for months from Evosmotorports

This is exactly what I am refering to:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ce-needed.html

It seems like conflicting reports, in one end we have you that apparently have "no issues getting parts" and get phones calls answered but on the other end(see my link) you have customers that went through a lot of hassle.

Sounds like a front pad spring clip not installed properly.

This is very plausible. Thank you for the suggestion.

I might even order new spring clips.

It does sound like a pad may be floating in the caliper. It is quite a job to get the pins back in through the spring clips.

Thanks for the feedback, Mort. I know, it's kind of a pain, but I'll give it another try. The strange thing is the sound does not happen every time I drive the car. Hopefully, I'll know soon.

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply. Got the pads installed about 2 weeks ago. Really an amazing pad. I talked about em in my Tremblant track videos with reviews of the new products I installed.

Also many cars have the same front pads so the hawk dtc 70 might not be officially labelled as fitting the c63

Also I'd like to add I have never had any issues with evosport. The only time it happened they fixed the problem very quickly...

What part #/application did you go with and did they need to be modified?

Not home in the upcoming days so feel free to ask Brad at evosport. No modifications had to be done.

That makes me think even more that its a spring clip issue.. Does it seem to happen primarily during first forward braking right after you have reversed out a parking space or garage?

Primarily? Not exactly, but your description fits my experiences for sure. I'm going to see about the spring clips. Thank you.

Edit: actually, yes that is the primary time when it happens. Why could that be?

Evosport is helping me troubleshoot as well. I really appreciate them taking the time.
