Has anyone ever changed out their cabin filter
If not, are you in for a treat of pain and misery. Your cabin filter is for your air conditioning & heating.
It's located under and behind your glove compartment. This is the second time that, I have changed one out. And let me tell you it gets no easier, even if your know what your doing.
You have to contort your body, just to get under their. What a pain in the A** it is.
You have to remove three screws, disconnect the light, pull back the carpet. but with these filters, they have tow metal clips, that are hard to get off and then back on, once the filter is replaced.
I'm glad that I will not have to chang this filter until another year.

This is a major pain in the a** to remove, trust me. There are only three screws, but the plastic tray simply does come off, the carpet needs to be pulled back, and the tray is stuck behind the side kick panel. Then you have to disconnect the footwell lighting. When you finally get access to the filter, there are these small metal reaining clips that need to be plied off, and there difficult because there isn't any working room, when your on your back, contorted. But when you get the clips off, you slide a lever and the filter slide right out. now that fun starts all over again, getting the clips, and the panel back in. Fun Fun

I am having my dealer do it on the 20000 mile(Service B). I am glad that you told me about the dificulty of removing the filter because I thought that it was easier.
I am planning on putting good expensive cologne on my filter element and I am not kidding when I say that. My car stinks very bad...

Its a easy procedure, just very difficult due to space under the glove box, and also your on your back contorting to loosen screws, etc. And it's tight under there as well. Simple answer it's a pain in the a** at best. A small, petite women, should have no problems. If you could take out the passenger seat, the problem, would be resolved, as you would have all the room you need

I spent about that much time, and I knew what I was doing. It's just very difficult to be bending your body every which way, just to get that dam filter out. Those that haven't tried, well you will know exactly what we're talking about when you do.

Sure knock yourself out. The filters are cheap, and the interior smell will be better since their lined with charcoal. The filters will come with instruction. Just be prepared for a little aggravation

While you can see the cabin filter from there I doubt you can change it from the engine bay. Our R Class was like that and I tried to get it out from the engine side but it could not be done. It would be so much easier if you change the cabin filter from the engine bay. For the R Class I had to take the glove box out to get to the filter housing. Now that was a pain (pun intended).

Suspect if you have access to a hoist, as a typical workshop would, you could set it at the right height so you could open the door and reach in to the footwell from below. Would save on the some of the contortionist work
