Anyone Think ESP Too Intrusive??
Coming from a 996 Turbo and e92 M3, they both had amazing traction control systems that allowed a little slip but kept you out of trouble.
It seems like the MB's ESP is extremely intrusive in comparison...even in sport mode. Any thoughts or solutions?

ON = dangerous in my view. way too intrusive.
SPORT = OK. Lets you have a bit of sideways (10-20 degrees) until it pulls you back. If you have progressive throttle and wheelspin, it will also maintain that in a straight line (unless you veer off sideways, when it then kicks in)
OFF = BEST. This car is very stable sideways and is actually quite easy to control. So long as you understand tyre wear increases dramatically, you'll have fun.
And yes, I drive ESP-OFF 100% of the time. Turning it off is part of my "sit in car and press buttons" routine.

Whatever we're tuning!
It is so intrusive that it makes the car unstable at times. Totally agree!
Solution:
Just put in a Quaife or Wavetrac. It makes the car much more predictable and itwill want as little feedback from you as possible. Just point the front wheels where you want it to go and it will follow your lead.
PS Even if you have a MB LSD get rid of that and go with one of the aforementioned diffs.

I have the MB diff on my car and I do not find the ESP to be too intrusive at all in Sport Mode. About the same as my E46M3 and 997S. I think the difference is the "instant" tq/hp that our car have compared to the M or P cars. This car has a lot more of it at lower rpm and you will find yourself on the edge a bit more than the other cars.
I think it is dialed in correctly from the factory.
Unless you have taken a few classes in handling and you are always 100% vigilant while driving, I would not recommend driving with ESP off. Just my 2 cents.
