It is Hot.. rediculously hot.. how hot is your engine running in the heat..

(Stolen from my wife who posted it from twitter.. so not sure who posted the original).
Anyways.. my engine's been pushing 230 to 240.. way outside the usual range of 210 to 220.. I'm a little concerned.. This is regular driving too.. not even spirited.

My engine oil temp hovers from 215-221 F at speed in this weather, a few degrees higher than what I typically see in cooler weather. But if I get on it at all, the temp will quickly climb to the 230-240 F area.

all factors considered, i just dont see there being this large of a gap in similar (if not identical) engines. i know im in texas and its hot as **** hear but i know other people in texas whos engines run 30-40 degrees less than mine

so, my vote. the things just isnt a reliable temp gauge.
I mean, I understand that it is not just the heat that is a factor, there is the 80% humidity that plays a role (and the humidity value will differ greatly from area). The other issue could be an under-performing oil cooler (I am going to see if I have leaves and crap in there this evening that could be impeding airflow)..
I'm just a little worried.. Today is going to be 102 in the DC metro area, 115 to 120 is the heat index with the humidity.. and the pollution in the area makes it worse (well on the human body anyways)..
coming home, winding up in 2nd and holding there in 25MPH traffic it touched 253, but came down to 242..
Usually around 221-235
Very humid today in NYC metro area
