whats better, a C63 or a BMW M5?

What kind of medication are you on? ![crazy](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif)
The M3 is a great car but you can not compare the sound to a C63 (stock vs stock).
Try to get an M3 to sound like this.

or this

There's a nice wholesome sound to come from a high revving sports car that begs to not sound quite so "mechanical".....Only comparison i can see these days is current day lamborghinis...They don't really sound lamborghini anymore...but what germany thinks lamborghini's sound like.

Op = epic failure.
I think op should just get an M5 since it seems image is all that matters. The "average" crowd will know what an M3 or M5 is, but they will not know what AMG is.
Before me, my gf didn't know what an AMG was, but she knew/heard of the M3 and M5. If image is that important why bother even asking us? Seems like you got your mind made up.
And please listen to a C63 before criticizing it doesn't roar.

thats what i was looking for, so your saying the M5 has alot of problems and is a terrible car overall which requires losts of maintenance aswell, is the C63 the same way? does it require lots of maintenance?
im asking for like daily use you know, im not a racer or anything, im looking for a great monster of a car that gets people's attention because of how great it is, thats what an M5 does to me when i see it in the street, that noise.. oh god. but ur saying the transmission in it sucks so.. i dont know now.

does the C63 make loud noises at low revs too or you need to go above 3k/4k to hear the loud noise? on the BMW M3/M5 you hear the loud noise even when the car is idle almost as in waiting in a red light and as soon as they press the pedal , even slightly you hear the roar.
i heared C63s but their roar isnt very loud.
what DD GT3 said about the m5's tranny threw me off though.
and the car will be for fun you know man, like weekend and such. im not taking any road trips or anything

I bought my M6 new a little over 2 years ago. I use it as a daily driver and had not one problem with it. Even if it would grenade tomorrow, it's got a 4/50 warranty

In regards to the SMG, some people don't like it because they think it's jerky. This is my second BMW with the SMG (had an E46 M3 for almost 3 years), and personally love that transmission. If you know how to drive a manual transmission smooth, the SMG will not be a problem. As for being "slow", it's lightning quick compared to my CLK's auto box. In the most aggressive setting, as soon as you pull on the paddle, that gear is in. As you know, that's not the case with the 7G

To OP: Both cars are great. Both cars sound great as well. They have totally different engine characteristics though. One has torque right above idle, where the other one comes REALLY alive at 5500 rpm. One is more of an effort to extract power from, the other quit effortlessly.

^ true, maybe I havent spent enough time with it but I would take a manual or the 7G over it. Yes the 7G is NOT fast either, but very smooth.
I had 2 friends that had M5's and they had many issues with the tranny. Im sure there are cases of no probs to, just sharing what I have seen.

CTS-V Coupe
I think the C63 has a more menacing presence, while the M5 is somewhat of a sleeper.
As far as doubting BMW's twin-turbo tech, don't. At first BMW had some fairly minor issues with their N54, all of which were fixed under BMW's great warranty program. The new F10 M5 will be a beast, and if I'm not mistaken the new M5 does not actually have a twin-turbo setup, it is a single twin-scroll turbo.
Between the '12 C63 and the F10 M5, that's a tough one. May come down to how much raw performance numbers and interior refinement matter to you.

I don't know why people buy a performance marque only for the namesake or what others think of it. I stress this again, buy what you want. You know what you drive and that's all that matters, not what someone else thinks. The only way to know which one drives better is for you to get behind the wheel of both and compare them, your opinion of handling might differ than someone else's

I think the OP should get an ordinary car for now, and hold on getting something like a C63 or M5 until his criteria for choosing are more mature. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but that's my opinion ...

2009 C63 ///Amg
the c63 has different rims a different from bumper along with a different hood and headlights, and it also has a quad exhaust system in the back which produces a sound which no one could mistake for a c300.
And as with the m5 unless I see the quad exhaust in the back i find it very hard to tell an m5 apart from a regular 5 series, there dont seem to me like they did any other body changes to it

OP should go buy a Lexus so people know he bought a prestigious brand of car and leave the C63 and M5 for real car enthusiasts who could careless about how the average person perceives the car. Both cars are bad a$$ so buy the one that feels the best on your test drive. I'll take a C63 for the low end torque alone. 8500 rpms on the street is fun but not too many opps to do so on a daily basis.

This thread is like comparing apples to oranges, it's open to one's own interpretation.

The main problem with this thread is he started off asking a comparison of the C63 vs M5 which are not even the same level/class of car.
Next, he seems more concerned about what other people think than state what HE thinks and wants out of a car.
Finally, he makes a statement about the "roar" of the C63 and M5 which seems rather bogus to most of us that have driven/heard both of said vehicles and know better.
Therefore I conclude...
To the OP, what you should do is examine why do you care about what others think, what YOU want out of a car, and then make your choice. No one can tell you what you asked. Seems like if you could buy either of these cars, you would have the wherewithal to make an intelligent decision on your own as well.
It's almost like asking which woman should I pick, the one with the d cups or c cups...no one can make that decision for me.

your friends are retarded if they cant tell a C300 from a C63. The difference in sound, power, looks, and everything is completely obvious. I can spot a C63 from a mile away...

50ms shifts are FASTER than any Ferrari SMG at the time so I don't know where you're getting slow from.
My stock clutch went at 90k miles. I had an SMG pump go at 70k miles. Those are not problems I'd describe as "often".
Yes it was jerky as hell and I loved it.
Back on Topic, the cars are apples and oranges.

what i want from the car is for it to be powerful and a great overall car, i was only making the comments about the M5 to open a discussion, from what i think it has a loader roar and overall sound.
about the C63, i wanted to know if it makes the roaring in low rpms (1-2k) ?
