I'm currently running Hankook tires right now and im pretty happy with them so far but I have been looking at the Michelin SS tires for the past week and want to get them on all 4 corners. Don't know if I should pull the trigger or not.
Here are my thoughts on both tires.

-Michelin Super Sport
Pros: Superior Grip and handling characteristics, great tread life, 6 year/30,000 mile warranty, Perform better and cost cheaper then PS2's.

Cons: Expensive.

-Hankook Evo v12 K110
Pros: Great price, good handling, quite, comfortable, Good tread wear.

Cons: Sidewalls are too soft, They flex too much when cornering hard.

Which one would you guys choose?
Thanks for all your help!
PSS all the way.......

No brainer

They are well priced, dont know anyone personally that's running them on a C63 but have seen guys run Yokohama ADVAN sport, they run WIDE but don't know much about them in regards to performance.

Ya the Michelin PS2's and PSS's run wide, the only reason why I went with the 235/265 combo is becuase im lowered and dont wanna run into any rubbing issues.

Yes, My friend is running 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 Michellin PSS on the OEM 19's with no rubbing issues at all.

I know.
Not trying to compare them but weighing my options and asking opinions on which one I should get. I ordered the Michelins since most owners are happy with them.

I know guys who are running RS3's and they're very happy with them, I know they wouldn't last long but are great autoX tires nonetheless.
The Hankooks are a great daily tire but aren't the best when it comes to performance imo. I wanted something that is going to have good tread life with awesome grip, Michelins seem to be the best option for me.

MICHELIN PSS 295/30/19 (R01) for my rear setup, 255/35/19 (RO1) for my fronts.

Stock with no star lowering and Im having way too much fun this way.

These tyres are only available in South Africa with an Official launch by September/October, sales books open by November. I know the Michelin group for a good few years, they also supply all our rubber conveyor belts at our Namibia Plant.

Ok so anyway, just keep us posted on what happens. I have them on my C63 (030) - E55(030) - S65, CL65, (S55K), I use the Pirelli Assemtrico here. Another super hard working tyre.

Its quite funny a lot of people on here are saying "you get what you pay for". That is not entirely true when it comes to tires. As a firm believer in the term I do agree with it on most things, but not in the case of tires. Yes the Michelin tires are better in this comparo. But there are a lot more expensive tires out there that don't perform well that could compare directly with the likes of the cheap guys like Hankook and Kuhmo.

Not to sound like a jerk but in a post like this I'd rather hear reasons rather than "those are more expensive so they are better"

I agree with you to some degree, Though I don't think more expensive is necessarily better. for example, PS2's are more expensive then the PSS's but offer less performance. But as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" unless you get ripped off.

I agree, but my point was when you go cheap you get cheap. Expensive and more expensive is not always the case. In some cases you are just paying for brand ect.

Expensive and cheap however there is a clear distinction in quality. I dont know of any $300+ each tires that are "Worse" in performance than a $175. It might be possible though.

I say Hankooks because the car just chews through rear tires anyway and is not a handling machine. If you're at the drag strip get some drag radials.

maybe I'm just bitter because I'm getting camber wear on my rears and they are pretty much done after 5k miles.

definitely go for PSS. Even if you chew through the rear tires, Michelin offers 15K mileage warranty so you can get some of your money back. PSS might even end up being cheaper in the long run @ a significantly higher performance level.

DR's on the street as well. Just hope it doesnt rain!

NT05's are also great tires. Not great in the rain but great dry traction. Pretty much cheater slicks.

That's one of the few reasons why im sticking with Michelin, I don't know any other company that offers that type of warranty.

Best warranty that I know of too, for industrial, commercial and private, they truly are one of the finest rubber manufacturing groups we have.

Handling machine? OK I guess I know where you are coming from. But hey. Hankook R-s3 did this.. start at 7:00. I pass the GT3 at 8:06 on Laguna Seca. I call this a kill.

Agreed. It's a Kill. I also have to say Hankook's in South Africa are slowly becoming a favourite tyre of choice for many.

V12 was POS tires.

Does NOT work well with C63 due to soft sidewalls.

Each to their own I suppose.

But I've also been told that for the price they really great tyres for dry conditions and no aggressive cornering. Anyway.

Nice video, but a kill?? Do you really think your 2007 E63 can beat that GT3 with equal driver skill? What mods on the E63?

Looked like a noob GT3 driver learning his car and he waved you past.

True, there is no way a E63 is going to out run a GT3 on the track. The GT3 driver seemed like he was still learning, like you said.

Get this month's issue of Grass Roots Motorsports. They test the latest hot tires in the rain. Hankooks are hands down the fastest dry weather tires, less than two seconds off R compound but they do suffer a bit in the rain. The Dunlop Direzza are an all around good tire. I am getting great tire wear considering the amount of track time I have on them.

Comparing Hankook EVO V12's to Michelin Super Sport's is like comparing vinegar to wine. The Star Specs are superb tires, nothing bad to say about them.
Though I have nothing bad to say about the Hankooks, Ive always said in my posts that they are great tires for the money but the Super Spors are on another level.

Now you can see why I was so harsh on the Hanook's!

I dont know who Hanook pays off for such great reviews but it must cost a bundle.
