2012 C63 Sedan on order

Hello everyone, I have a C63 sedan on order (longest 3 months of my life) just want to stop by and introduce myself and see all the other cars and people that share my same passion for MB.

I have a question about the AMG development pack upgrade. I had briefly thought about adding the development pack option to the list and decided not to. I did however add the limited slip. Should I have added the development pack? My current daily driver has only about 280HP so obviously the C63 is going to be still quite a drastic improvement even without the development pack. Additionally I don't really plan on any sustained high speed driving, more so the handling and quick bursts of speed.

Appreciate any input on this and hope to be coming back to the site often.

Anything W/4Wheels
Welcome to the forums
Add the The package and u have over 500HP
MB underrated that package saying 481hp most ppl that dynoed c63 with P31 got 420plus to the wheels divide that by .82 (18%drive train loss) and u have u self a 512HP c63 from the factory.
GL with u purchase.

The 500HP+ certainly sounds enticing, although I wonder would I be disappointed without it or is the the stock C63 adequate, I'm assuming it is.

I'm willing to bet the dev package was added as an option due to all the
money they lost to aftermarket tuners. Now it seems they have added
additional encryption to the ECU to make it even more difficult to tune.

I would be disappointed knowing that MB left 60 to 70 HP on the table
or off the table depending how you look at things.

YOu are making a huge step regardless of the pack...I think you'll be just fine.

You won't be disappointed with the car without the package. I can promise you that.

Just drove my fathers CLS550 4matic recently purchased. Still waiting on my C63 ETA Nov. delivery.
I understand the stock C63 should be quicker by a little bit. If that is the case then it should be plenty. Thank you everyone for your feedback.

I've been looking up some interesting data online for comparison from stock to either a P31 or aftermarket tune. They seem to be fairly close in terms of actual track performance testing.

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...take_road_test -
C&D was only able to get a few 10ths of a second faster saying "If you don’t have your own personal autobahn on which to enjoy the C63’s higher top speed, spending almost six grand for a six-percent increase in power is sort of like taping a stick of dynamite to a nuclear bomb to up its firepower. Acceleration numbers are virtually unchanged in the base car: 60 mph is still achieved in a blistering 3.9 seconds, whereas the P31-equipped C63 is 0.1 second quicker to 100 mph, and 150 mph arrives in 21.7 seconds, or 1.1 seconds sooner."

In the OE Tuning video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxFiC6_oMsA
The P31 doesn't appear to make any moderate lead until 100+ MPH confirming the C&D tests.

These results at least put me at ease for not getting the P31. Adding to the contentment is the fact as i said before I really don't plan on track/drag racing or going over 100~120 MPH sustained to often (I know super lame) and I could always add an aftermarket tune if I wanted to.

I don't mean to bash any aftermarket tunes or the P31, this is just my strange way of justifying to myself for being either cheap or stupid. In fact I have some questions regarding aftermarket tunes and I apologize if answered previously; wasn't able to get a clear answer. How are they on overall engine reliability, gas mileage, and any disadvantages?

P31 is overpriced in my opinion. For 6K they should have tossed in LSD too.
