Help Resetting TPMS

Okay so I put on new wheels on my brothers C63 today with New bought TPMS from Tirerack. I follow the instruction and try to reset it through steering column, after Resetting, display shows "TPMS Active" however I still see that orange tpms warning symbol on the cluster?

I checked all four tire pressure. Front: R 40 / L 39, Rear: R 44 / L 42

19x8.5 Front with Hankook V12 245-35-19
19x10 Rear with Hankook V12 275-30-19

Factory recommends tire pressure to be 49psi. Does this apply to aftermarket wheel/tire setup as well? Inflating these Hankook V12 to 49psi is bit non-sense to me, no?

I searched and someone mentioned about there's procedure how to reset TPMS on Tire Rack website but couldn't find it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

creaminz - Google this topic...basically it make take time and multiple attempts to reset via the MFD procedure...you might also overinflating by 5lbs, driving for a while and then bleeding down to recommended pressures etc. Some say it takes 10-20 attempts to reset with driving time in between before something clicks in and the monitor functions correctly. Luckily mine worked immediately.

Thanks all! I will try to put more air to see if that does the trick!

I was told I needed the TPMS sensors' individual numbers to key in in the computer in order to make them work. Is it true?

My new 2012 C63 just arrived at the dealer. I was talking about the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system), not the tire pressure warning system. I've got an aftremarket set of wheels, wanted the dealer to install them for me, was asked for the sensors' individual numbers to key in in the computer in order to recognise and make them with the onboard computer.

Can anyone please help??? Otherwise, I might have to take the tires off and check the numbers on the sensors. Another cost to take the tires off and re-mount & re-balance them...

Mine work and i have no light but now it wont read the individual tire pressure for each tire. I dont know whats going on or how to get that back. Im about to just put the stock oem sensors back on. Irritating.. I paid extra for the tpms with my aftermarket wheels just for this reason.

Bought my OEM tpms from ebay.
No problem at all when i got my new wheels, they were recognized instantly.
Question: how do you guys get the tire pressure per wheels? My 09 sedan never showed this from the start. So is it specific to 2010 MY onwards?

Thumbs up Tirerack TPMS sensors.

Just recently bought a set of TOYO Proxes R888 from Tirerack with TPMS sensors to install on 19" Forgestar's. 39 psi. (cold) all tires does the trick. Just have to reset to current values on the dash. I track the car @ 32 psi all around and get the red warning come up on dash, press ok to acknowledge and run my track session. When I'm done at the track next day with cold tires go back to 39 psi. and BAM! its all good after reset. So, Tirerack TPMS sensors work on the C63.

Bumping his thread back up... I bought a set of TPMS sensors off of Amazon only after confirming with my dealer that it was the right part number for my car. Apparently it was the older part number but the parts manager confirmed it would work fine with my car.

However, since I had them installed on my Forgestar wheels a couple weeks back I cannot get them to recognize. I've tried resetting a couple times but after driving for 15-20mins it comes up with a 'Tire Monitoring System Not Active' message. Any thoughts/advice?

TPMS OEM Number : 000 905 4100

Hi Vise,

Got brand new TPMS sensors from Midtown MB a couple of months ago. They were surprisingly cheap for OEM MB parts ($83.50 + $2.34 for the aluminum valve nut each). I did have to give them the VIN to verify the proper part number though so something may have changed form the old ones. Part number for the sensors for my car (2013 w/ APX) was 000-905-72-00 and the valve 000-401-16-14. The car detected them right away (no warning), but it did take them some time (much longer than the few minutes it takes for the existing ones to report) until I got the pressure readings.

EDIT: Just looking at your part number - you do appear to have the wrong ones for our car. When I picked up the car in January I got a set of winters and they had mistakenly put in the wrong (old C63) sensors in those, and I got the same warning that you're seeing now.

Thanks, I was hoping that wasn't the case but starting to fear it might be. Before I ordered the TPMS monitors I checked (and double checked) with the parts advisor at MB Downtown and he said they would work with my car. He said they updated the part numbers but the part itself is the same and would work fine.

The other possibilities are I got a defective set of monitors or that I'm not doing the reset/initialization process correctly. Will try to figure it out... not a huge deal if it doesn't work as its not worth the hassle of unmounting the tires to swap them out. It would obviously be nice to get it sorted though.

Hmm... now that I think about it based on your comments it may be an issue with the reset/initialization. I do not get an error message when first starting up, it actually says 'Tire Monitor Active' but it does not give me a PSI reading. Its only after driving for a bit (15-20mins or longer) that it pops up the error message.

Anyone else out there running a set of wheels without TPMS monitors in a TPMS equipped car? Would be interested to see if there is a different error message.

Man... here goes another ambulance chaser I'll never buy anything from. Nice post, Titan. At the very least you could have tried to help the guy out by confirming some part numbers instead of just blatantly advertising your stuff. Bravo.
