Whats the hood of the C63 made of?

Anybody tell me what the hood of the C63 is made of. Is it composite, aluminum..... it doesn't feel/sound like steel?

Mercedes hood is made out of aluminum, Mercedes hasn't built cars out of steel in years. Some components are made of steel, in some places that need extra strength. Hardly any car manufacturer, makes there cars out of steel. As a totaly steel car would be heavy, although there are light weight steels out there.

Thanks, I thought it seemed different. Pretty sure the fenders and most of the rest of the body is steel though, right?

...uh, I believe almost every Mercedes currently produced is steel bodied, besides flagship models and the hoods/roofs/trunks/bumpers. The SLS has an aluminum chassis and body. I know that the hood on the CLK Black Series is steel.

The hood is steel. The two front fenders are aluminum. The remaining body is steel except for the bumpers.

Grab a magnet and walk around and carefully see what it will stick to. Aluminum is non-magnetic. Steel is highly magnetic.

I believe the hood on the 2012 C63 models is aluminum.

Yes as far as I know the facelifted model should have aluminum hood.

+1 i found this out when replacing my hood... my shop was surprised i had a steel hood on a car like this... and then that's when we found our the fenders were aluminum
