Fair price for CPO C63 with (repaired) accident damage?
I found a CPO'd 2008 C63 at a MB dealer nearby (not local but reasonable to go pick up the car) that has 30k miles and pretty standard option package (everything but P30), but the Carfax indicates two owners and one incident of accident damage in the past.
The dealership claims the accident damage occurred when the car was parked and someone clipped the fender. They also say that there was no evidence of frame or structural damage when they did their CPO inspection. I'm still waiting on evidence to back up their story about the bodywork, the VMI, and CPO inspection report. They're asking 46,990 which I think is ridiculous, given the two owner history and accident damage. I'm thinking of offering 37k and seeing how they respond.
Is this a reasonable starting point? What would you consider a fair price for this car (if the bodywork story checks out)?
Thanks everyone.

That is a ridiculous asking price, especially considering the documented accident history and two previous owners.
Hold firm on your offer...and make sure you get them to throw 2 extra years on top of that CPO warranty.

Just to be clear, I haven't offered 37k yet. That was the price I was thinking about throwing out first. It sounds like there's at least one vote for that being a fair offer.

I agree with most of what the previous posters have told me. For the sake of comparison, what would you consider to be good deal on a 2008 or 2009 CPO C63 with around 30,000 miles and a clean carfax?

unless you are planning on keeping the car forever and you don't care about minor body panel damage then go for it , but only if they accept your offer . if you will ever consider selling the car , don't buy it

Damn, I have an accident on mine, but I've put almost 30k mi since on mine with no issues.. I was hoping to get a relatively decent amount on trade-in. Prices above are a little less than I was hoping for, lol.

40k would be fair for a 08. Anything lower will be a good deal for you. Also make sure the brake rotors and pads are in good condition. I'm surprised that dealership told you the car was involved in an accident. Normally they won't tell you unless you ask them.

Tell the dealer the car is "damaged goods". But for the right price, like $37k, it's worth considering. Take it to a good body shop and have them confirm what the prior damage was. It amazing what a good body shop can tell you just by looking at a car. I do know that MBZUSA guidelines restrict its dealers from providing CPO on cars with frame damage. Most MBZ dealer wholesale out a car that has frame damage rather than sell it on their lot.

Find yourself a car that hasn't been crashed, in the long run the cheaper comes expensive(anyone will tell you that). You should only buy"bargain" cars as beaters when you leve in a ranch, farm or when you just need to get a cheap transportation temporarily otherwise buying a expensive car with a damage/repaired record will haunt you down to the last day specially if you ever try to re-sell it and someone runs the car-fax on it. Good luck!
