My ROW Airboxes Arrived Today!
Ordered them directly from a German supplier.
Ended up being about $455 Canadian shipped UPS express.
I was going to order a Gruppe M or a Carbonio Intake... But I was worried about warranty... SO I went OEM =O) Saved a couple of bucks too!
North American with CF removed vs new ROW.
AFE Pro Dry S Filters
Start up sounds mean!!! Much more UMPH/growl from the exhaust.
Haven't driven it yet.... but I'll report back later.
EDIT: Prior to the ROW air box install I had the AFE filters and CF removed from the stock boxes. Those alone made the car start louder... But with the ROW boxes and the AFEs it's even louder still.

^^ Thst was my queston /dodgers... both boxes looks the same minus the inner plastic? How much gain with the ROW box minus the airfilters?

On a dyno sheet I once saw posted on this forum showed 7 rwhp and 20 rwtq gain at 3500-5000rpm

RR Evoque Dynamic, Benz Valente (work hack)
Yeah we have ROW boxes on our cars.
I have a set collecting dust downstairs as i've got the Renntech intake, but that did not make a noticeable difference over standard ROW boxes, on the street anyway

I don't think anyone outside AMG has empirical data that shows the front of the intake path is restrictive.
Take our exhausts for example, if you leave the stock exhaust manifolds but remove the cats, you still gain power, no?

The cats are almost like sticking a sock in a tube? My point is if you take a 2" pipe and blow through. Straw would you get more volume if you make the 2" pipe 3" and use the sane straw? Idk

Who says it's choked before that? I'm kind of asking a rhetorical question because although we have seen the larger inlets like you have make power, that doesn't necessarily mean ROW's with regular inlets won't make extra power.

I think it only matters if you reach sonic flow at the throat of the intake runner. Increasing the throat size would allow for more flow rate since sonic flow is the max you can really attain. Someone back me up or correct me though since I'm a little rough on my compressible flow fluid dynamics.

I don't think we're talking any substantial power with the ROW's. Seat of the pants, I feel like the car feels "stuffier" with the carbon filters in and the NA box tops. With the ROWs and even stock paper filters, the engine feels more free. But, I wouldn't put much weight in ROW's dropping 1/4 mile times.

Not disagreeing just can't understand how there could be a difference. To me the problem or restriction in our air box starts well before the tops.

I would think opening up the front inlets and replaceing the boxes with RT boxes would be a great setup. But, then you still have the same size straight piping connecting the front to the back.
