Cloud of blue smoke at start up???
Anyone else get this?
It happens to me on occasion when I try to start the vehicle a few minutes after shutting it down. I think it has to do with unburnt fuel in the exhuast. Not 100% sure though.
Blue smoke is usually associaed with oil but it would be continouos blue smoke not just at start-up.
from what I gathered by talking to the indy shop I used, (spoke to the owner)
it's kind of normal during these colder months and shouldn't be an issue....unless it
continues to blow smoke after driving a few minutes.....
I am of course referring to my AMG......with just over 5K on the ody
No idea how the oil makes it up in there, but can say the car runs like a champ, makes strong dyno numbers, and doesn't seem to burn excessive oil. I'm stumped.

I've got 5000 miles on it.
I guess this is part of the reason our exhaust tips get black so damn fast.
I spent two hours getting them like mirrors during my last detail and after a couple drives you'd never know I cleaned them
My car smoked a lot, but now at 16K I seldom see white smoke at start-up. Also if you cool your car (e.g. to wash it ) and then only pull into the garage you are more likely to see smoke on start up. Only worry if you see clouds on acceleration (rings)or on overrun down a hill (valve guides/seals). IMO
I've red here that it is quite normal should I be concerned?
On starting it sometimes has a blue smoke on start up. Not always , but then disapperas onceI drive for a short time. Are the oil ring gone.
Otherwuase the car runs perfect It has 131 Kilometeers on the clock.
???
have not added oil for 8000 Kmart after the lost oil change.
I’ll go for the compression and cylinder leak test.
is the motor oil for high mileage cars worth it ?
When you get down below 50 mph, floor it and look in the mirror. If a burst of blue smoke comes out, it's probably worn rings. If blue smoke comes after waiting at traffic light,
it could be bad valve guides.
