How does C63 feel in highway?

Hello. I am looking for 2012 C63 and want to hear some advice.

I hear a lot from this forum that C63's torque in low RPM is fun to drive in the city. However, how does C63 feel in highway? Is it nice?

(I liked E60 M5's highway run where you feel the strong power on each gear change.. may be it's SMG thing... ) How is C63?

Thanks!

Tally ho dear friend. I celebrate the insouciant playfulness that is the C63. It feels like steel and velvet on the highway. A delightful blend of strength and textured teutonic stolidity.

You could drive the car and form your own opinions though.

if you can afford a new c63 why not hop on a plane somewhere and take one for a test drive, then you also have a chance for a roadtrip if you decide to buy, which is what you want to do with a new car

Cars.
You don't really feel the power taper off anywhere. It really is a force to be reckoned with when it's going in a straight line. Now, corners area another story but I highly doubt you'll be going around turns like a race car driver in day to day driving.

Having owned a e60 M5 before i can tell you the C63 pulls pretty hard and has that same "riding on rails" feeling that the M5 gives. M5 steering was a little snapier on highway speed and obviously pulled a bit faster after 150km/hr but otherwise the C63 is damn close. You wont go wrong with the C63 and you'll enjoy the low-end torque and sound that the M5 lacked.

Top Gear 30-50mph 2.5sec (vs 6.7sec in M3)
Top Gear 50-70mph 2.7sec (vs 6.2sec in M3)

That should give you some idea about highway performance compared to some other cars out there

It has great power all the way through the rev range and at pretty well any speed. A BMW M3 handles better though so if you are the type to carry lots of speed through sweepers you may prefer the road holding of the M3. I prefer the C63 because it makes passing a lot easier on single lane roads and it does just fine at 160 km/hr which is about as fast as I ever really cruise. The only times I have ever really wanted more high speed handling was at the end of very long passing lanes where I was at 200km/h+ and the road started to curve. The M3 is better in these situations than the C63.

Just plodding along in traffic the C63 is way better. auto trans, lots of torque, good cup holders, easier to use more sensible OBC & entertainment etc.

30-50 is what I get to do daily...several times.

Anyway...do note that these are C63 kick-down times (while the M3 is staying in 6th)...so, in the real world, against a Bimmer driver who isn't too lazy to downshift, it will be somewhat closer.

I will say this, everyone that has ever owned a M3, and converted over to a C63 hasn't regretted it. The boys at BMW Motorsport built a great powerplant, but it just doesn't compare to the magic at AMG. The M3 lacks the HP and torque, of the AMG. I have driven the CLS63, E63, SL63 and C63 on a track, and by far the C63 was the most fun. I think that you would really enjoy the C63 if you bought one, just one note.....be prepared to buy new rear tires in the first six months of ownership And most importantly the exhaust note is to die for, I love hearing it start up for the first time on a cold morning. Dam...if that doesn't get your blood pumping And this thing is awesome on the highway, passing is a breeze, just point to where you want to go, and step on it. I like to downshift two gears and blast pass the car in front of me. But their is more than enough HP and torque to pass in 7th gear.

This engine spins and spins. When you hammer it on the freeway -- especially when it's cold outside -- the engine sounds like a million little monkeys banging on their drums.

This car could get you into trouble so it's best not to tempt it on a freeway.

Mercedes-AMG engineer the cars for a unique environment: The Autobahn. Considering that there are no speed limits on some sections, the cars must maintain high speeds for a prolonged time. This create strain on the car's chassis and body. In that sense, these cars feel like trains on the highway: Stable and smooth. Heck, I only need to drive another car to remind me how an AMG feels so different at high speeds.

I had the C63 up to 130 MPH, on the track and it was very stable at high speed.

Good points for sure! Engineering wise, though, I can't say that one engine is innately superior to the other. The M3 has this "sweet" power band from about 4k-7.5k rpms that is a bit better than our C63. The C63 "lives" in the low to mid power band and the M3 "lives" in the upper part of the band. Most of my driving is in the low to mid area and the C63 fits the bill perfectly. I haven't owned an M3, only ridden in one, so I am no expert. But my limited experience and "seat of my pants" reaction is they both do exactly what they were designed to do!
